Society of Singers is extremely dedicated to its clients and continues to work through many hardships to provide for those who most need assistance.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My interactions with clients, who are so grateful for the personal assistance they get - not just financially, but the mental and emotional support they receive as well.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give it millions of dollars!

I am a social work intern at SOS and have come to believe in the mission of this great organization. SOS helps an under-served population in some of their greatest times of need and is so valuable. I only wish more people knew about SOS and that more successful musicians supported it.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

witnessing the impact on clients who feel supported, heard and helped by SOS.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

increase funding.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with clients.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

wonderful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help so many singers and improve their quality of life. The impact would be immense.

Ways to make it better...

the organization was supported by more donors.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the drop in donations (partly due to the economy) and that SOS is not as well-known as it could/should be.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I hope everyone who knows about SOS makes sure that everyone they know and those they meet also know about SOS.

SOS really lives up to its name. They understand the role of singers in our society and how tough it can get. Kudos for their compassion and assistance in this troubling economy.!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

interacting with the office, specifically Wendy's charming presence.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give even more! (now if I can only win the lotto...)

The Society of Singers is a wonderful organization who has helped me with completing my studies for a MA in music and then invited me to LA to perform at the 17th Ella Awards alongside Andy Williams, Petula Clark, Barry Mailow and many others. They inspire and support so many young singers and they are a great contribution to the singer/musician community of the USA. Beat Kaestli

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide more opportunities for them to help young vocalists

Ways to make it better...

nothing was different

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

probably raising the money to help out the singers in need.

SOS helped me when I was sick and having a very hard time paying my bills by giving me a grant. I will never forget their incredible generosity and kindness during this very difficult time for me. Annie Minogue

that they were there to help me when no one else would. Without them I wouldn't have been able to pay my bills during the time that I was sick.

I have been through a prolonged period of inability to work due to a job-related injury. It took six years for me to receive a settlement from Worker's Comp, and during the interim, I nearly lost my home due to my inability to pay my mortgage. Within days of receiving my application, The Society of Singers came to my rescue with a much needed emergency grant that saved me from losing my home. Without their assistance, I would have given up. But because of a much-needed boost during a time of need, I was able to stay in my home. Since then, I have tried to help other singers and musicians suffering the same kind of emergency situations, and my passion to help others was born out of the generosity and help I received unconditionally from the Society of Singers. Since musicians rarely have health insurance or other benefits, the work that the Society of Singers does is extremely important to the music community they serve. There is not enough support to be offered, but the Society of Singers came through for me, and many others. I hope they receive the recognition they richly deserve.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Their grantmaking to me, and their kindness during the process. It is difficult for me to ask for help, but they made it very easy to get an emergency grant when I needed one.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

A desire to give the same kind of assistance to other musicians suffering similar circumstances. There is a great need for this assistance, and SOS personifies empathy and kindness on the highest level.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Unbelievably kind, generous and empathetic to a fault. Wendy Garfink is an exemplary leader for this organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Put a huge dent in the suffering of millions of underinsured musicians.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
