Society for Science & the Public (SSP) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to public engagement in scientific research and education. Our vision is to promote the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform, educate and inspire.

 

Results:

Since 1921 the Society has through its award-winning publications and world-class science education competitions conveyed the excitement of science and research directly to the public. The Society has more than four million social media followers, 90,000 Science News subscribers across print and digital platforms, an estimated 10,000 Intel ISEF participants annually, and 50,000 science competition alumni of record. In 2015 the Society's websites realized over 13 million online visitors, and its education programs made hundreds of millions of worldwide media impressions. Educating and informing students, parents, teachers and the greater community about the evolving and influential world of science, we inspire the endless possibilities they have to offer.

Science News (SN) offers readers bold, contemporary, award-winning editorial content from all fields and applications of science and technology. SN reaches approximately 90,000 subscribing members and paid digital readers, attracts more than 13 million online viewers annually and has more than four million followers on social media.


Science News for Students (SNS) is an award-winning website devoted to students in grades 6-9 and their teachers. A distinctive science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education tool that offers timely news stories written specifically to engage middle and high school students in the world of science, SNS attracts about four million visitors annually and has over one million followers on social media.


Regeneron Science Talent Search (Regeneron STS) is the nation’s most prestigious science research competition for high school seniors. In partnership with Westinghouse from 1942-1998, and with Intel from 1998-2016, the Regeneron STS provides a national stage to feature the nation’s best and brightest young minds who present original research to nationally-recognized professional scientists.


Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. The Intel ISEF provides an annual forum for more than 1,700 students in grades 9-12 from nearly every state in the U.S. and almost 80 countries, regions and territories to showcase their talent on an international stage. At Intel ISEF these top young scientific minds come together, are judged by doctoral level scientists and compete for more than $4 million in prizes and awards.


Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering for Rising Stars) inspires middle school students to pursue their personal passion for STEM. Each year, 30 finalists are selected from a pool of 300 national semifinalists. The finalists earn a trip to the Broadcom MASTERS national finals week competition to showcase their science fair projects and compete in a four-day STEM competition that rewards independent research, scientific inquiry, hands-on learning and teamwork.
