Sisters4Sisters has a wonderful network of women supporting each other in many ways. In 2005, S4S helped me at a time when I could not find help from anyone; they embraced me even in my brokenness. I found love, acceptance, and support. They gave me direction, guidance, a road map to reconnect with society in spite of my situation. This means so much to me as a woman, as a mother, as a SISTER. Now, as a member of this life changing partnership, I help other Sisters where ever and whenever I can. I now volunteer to pay it forward. I am so grateful...
THANK YOU SISTERS!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My daughter is part of Daughter's of Destiny because of the wonderful support that S4S has give me. S4S touches the whole family.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would wish they had chapters in every state, so that more women would be inspired and assisted like we are here in Maryland.

I attended one of their meetings entitled "SOS", Saving our Sisters. . it included professional people (doctors, nurses, counselors, etc.) they talked openly about ways to become more aware of health issues, like yearly health exams, mammograms, taking control of keeping yourself safe from sexually transmitted diseases. They also had a doctor openly discussing the Aids Epidemic and how it has risen higher than heart or cancer disease within the last 4 years in this area. Sisters4Sisters has been a very positive experience for me. I came to my first meeting alone (last year) and the sisters talked to me and made me feel comfortable. When I attended the next meeting I brought a friend and she told another friend and I have been coming back ever since. The speakers would hand out booklets, educational material and discuss a wide range of topics. I was very moved with the indepth knowledge and feedback participation by all that attended. . . . .

I have attended several of their meetings and helped to participate in fund raisers to gather more money to help displaced families, and gathered material to be dropped off at the Harriett Tubman Shelter. I also openly participated in various discussions to help women see a more positive way to live without being abuse (both physically or mentally). . .

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would reach out to more businesses to raise additional awareness and get more funds to help families that have been displaced due to some form of abuse. Whether it was emotional, physical or drug dependency. So many people have lost their jobs (over the last few years) and the physical abuse in some households have risen and the need for more housing and food has become more urgent. . .

Keep an updated list of all new attendees at these meetings (phone numbers, or email addresses) so you can get a new group of volunteers a lot quicker at the end of each meeting. . . .
