Single Mother's Outreach is in incredible light in this community. Last Friday, myself and several local college students provided childcare at the Boys & Girls Club while the Moms went to a "Mom's Night Out" even funded by SMO. We had such a blast with those kids! We played all kinds of games, had a pizza party, watched a movie. We had so much fun that the kids were sad to leave at the end. I'm already looking forward to the next event myself! SMO gave those kids and their Moms a fun and stress-free night, which are hard to come by as a single parent. This is just one of many examples of how SMO lends a helping hand to single parents in need.

Being a single mom myself for some years and personally understanding the struggles associated with it, my heart had been to find a way to help. Upon moving to California, I was quickly introduced to SMO and, with a background in volunteer experience in various non-profit thrift stores, was excited to learn about The Closet and that there was need for help in that capacity. The staff and fellow volunteers were very welcoming and accepting and I felt like I fit right. I knew this was where I was supposed to be!I have felt such a sense of fulfillment working at receiving, sorting, and organizing the donated clothing and baby items provided for the moms and their kids.I have been personally involved in assisting certain women in choosing outfits for special occasions and for job interviews that otherwise would not have been a possibility for them. To say the least,it was fun and they were thrilled!! I look forward to further expansion of The Closet and the long term goal of opening a public thrift store to benefit Single Mother's Outreach.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I'm not sure about what changes need to be made but a few pressing needs in order to sustain and grow are definitely more space, more staff, and a good crew of dedicated, motivated, and committed volunteers.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The people I've met, the friends I've made, and the fulfillment I receive working as a volunteer.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Warm, friendly, and very committed and passionate about what they are doing.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Grow to meet the ever-increasing needs of families in the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond...

Ways to make it better...

We had more volunteers.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funds, space, staff, and volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I have not been more impressed by what I have seen executed through this organization. Sooo much accomplished by so few hands! My hat's off to you all!!

Single Mothers Outreach is directed by DaAnne Smith who cares so much and works so hard to improve the lives of single parents and their kids. SMO considers the well being of the single parent on different levels, economically and psychologically. Understanding the issues that single parents live with is something the SMO excels in.
