I've been involved with Servants Inc. for a little over two years, and my only regret is that I didn't connect with the organization sooner. I was fortunate enough to participate in two "mission trips" to Guatemala, with the third in the planning stages for 2014. "Mission trips" is in quotations, as most people would use that term, but Servants trips are more so "transformation trips" in that the focus is on developing relationships with families/individuals/children in need, so while their immediate needs, e.g. shelter, subsistence are addressed, the relationship building will have a much greater long term impact in showing them Christ's Love. But I must "warn" you, that after participating, you will be transformed as well. For those that can't devote time to travel internationally, Servants also numerous opportunities to participate in local events, or as situations arise, trips to surrounding states. All the planning/travel is extremely well coordinated, and runs like clock work removing that traveling stress and allowing the participate to arrive ready to serve. I strongly encourage anyone thinking about a first missions trip, or are just interested in serving others in the York area to check at Servants Inc.

I have served with Trent Davis in Guatemala four (4) times now and I have to say this organization knows what they are doing. They are involved with all aspects of the trip but most importantly, they focus on the relationships more than the work. They are expanding to serve in other countries and outreach more in the countries they are already serving in (i.e. Haiti and Serving At-Risk Families in Guatemala). I have also served locally with Todd Jackson through their Home Helps ministry. There are amazing things happening in the homes of the needy. Servants has a continual focus on Christ and the healing power that comes through Him alone.

I've been on several trips with Servants to Guatemala, and I've also helped locally in the Pennsylvania area. The trips are well planned and coordinated, and we help lots of people on our trips.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Guatemala, states affected by flooding and hurricanes, and in my own life. I grew so much spiritually when on my trips with Servants!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

This organization needs more funding, because they would and could help so many more people with more money; just look at how much they've done with such limited funding!

One thing I'd also say is that...

I love going on trips with Servants. My parents love it too, because they like to know the people on the trip when they send their sixteen year old daughter (My first international trip with Servants was when I was fourteen.) to places they've never been

I've been on one missions trip to Mississippi, my two daughters have gone on several trips with Servants to Guatemala. This organization now does local missions projects and to other countries as well. They have a heart to serve around the world, sharing the love of Christ. I volunteer a few times a year for fundraisers and help and do their newsletter mailings.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the love that is shared to so many people in need.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very helpful and willing to teach me to do jobs that I hadn't done before in my life.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do so many more trips and have the resouces to help countless families.

Ways to make it better...

I didn't have to endure the long trip in a 15 passenger van ... but I'm not complaining.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial ... with the tough economy there are fewer sponsorships.

One thing I'd also say is that...

they are Christ centered and pray for guidance and direction for every trip and project they undertake.

Servants is a first-class "mission sending" organization with the experience and "know how" to help your volunteers have a great hands-on service experience regardless of their talent or skill level. Our trip to Waveland Mississippi could not have gone any better. 21 adults traveled to the Gulf Coast as Hurricane Ike was making its way through Texas. When we arrived at Camp Gulfside, the facility had been shut down for a month because of a mandatory evacuation. Servants team leader, Todd Jackson, worked closely with the site managers to organize our team to get the facility up and running so we could launch out from there to serve the surrounding community. We worked on numerous projects throughout the week completing a lot of much-needed work. At the same time, we ministered to the residents who needed, more than anything, to know that they were not forgotten...neither by God nor by their brothers and sisters in Christ. I am looking forward to my next trip with Servants. They are truly God's servants to the least, the lost and the last!

Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in Waveland Mississippi. I always felt that my volunteers were prepared and equipped for the tasks to which we were assigned.

Find a way to give them more resources so they could help more people! I'm serious. There are a lot of other organizations out there that don't know what they are doing. Money would be invested well with Servants! You get your money's worth with them!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Their professionalism. We had a lot of fun but there was always a sense that our leaders knew what they were doing and were one step ahead of us, watching out for our safety and for what we needed to do next.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Devout Christian servants. They are always ready to help you or any one in need. They are the kind of people you would love to be your neighbor!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make the front page of every newspaper in the US! They have learned to do so much with so little. I still can't believe how little we paid to do all the work that we did and have the experience we had. They use the 'widow's mite' very well!

Ways to make it better...

There had been fewer "love bugs" :-)

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year

I have joined Servants on almost a dozen mission trips including places such as Guatemala, India, and right here within the U.S. in Mississippi. The teamleaders are well prepared and I really appreciate the spiritual opportunities we receive with team meetings, devotions on the trips, and re-entry discussions. I have also helped with local missions in the Servants community in York County, PA and I really appreciate them helping find the right person for me to help serve when I have volunteer time available. Sometimes I help those in need and other times I am able to help in their office with adminstrative duties. I highly recommend Servants to anyone who would like to make the most of their Mission experience!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the spiritual foundation

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always helpful, polite, sincere, rooted in their faith, and grounded in their purpose.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a difference in so many lives ... both locally and around the world ... by providing basic needs we often take for granted and planting seeds for eternity with our Savior.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the growth it has experienced but not the finacial backing for all the opportunities yet. And also I see a challenge of getting team leaders they know will continue to stay focused on the team, those they serve, and God all at the same time.

One thing I'd also say is that...

despite the success up to this point, the growing demands of those in need make it difficult for the organization to run on strictly a volunteer basis. Although I have faith God will continue to provide for Servants, I also am deep in prayer about this.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
