What a fantastic group of people! I love the partnership with the prison - I know both the dog and the inmate were positively affected. I adopted a wonderful trained dog who is a joy! I recommend greyhounds as a breed and SCG as an organization at every opportunity. They care so much about finding the right homes for each of these wonderful dogs. They are thorough and helpful every step of the way. Thank you Second Chance Greyhounds!!

I just want to say that I feel this is an awesome program. I am a volunteer at a womens Prison here in SC and I feel this is awesome for teaching the dogs to be socialized but mostly I feel this helps the inmates feel needed and gives them a chance to share their love.

I adopted my wonderful greyhound through another adoption group. I really wanted to become involved in fostering and since my group didn't need foster homes I looked for another. Second Chance Greyhounds has been a terrific group with which to be involved. Not only do they care deeply about the life for these graceful creatures once their life off the track is over they care just as deeply for those that volunteer and adopt. I look forward to continuing to work with them, helping to prepare our dogs for life as a pet and being surrounded by the support of such caring, fun-loving, dedicated people.

Decided to adopt from this group because of the partnership with the prison and what the experience must provide for the inmates. Was amazed by the support I got after adopting my dog. Now I have a greyhound that I ADORE! Many thanks for all the great people who contribute to Second Chance Greyhounds. Now I volunteer in the hopes that I can help someone else have the same incredible experience that I've had. Adopt a greyhound from SCG - you'll be so glad you did!

I adopted two wonderful greyhounds from this organization that have become great additions to our family. Second Chance Greyhounds goes the extra mile with reaching out and providing resources to assist in the transitional phase of the adoption. They have provided a great service and very valuable members for our family.

We looked at various greyhound adoption groups, to include going to various meet and greets over a 6 month period before selecting Second Chance as our adoption group of choice. This decision was based on the level of service and training their adoptees received, the information and experiences provided by all members we met, and the definite level of love and support provided once their hounds are placed in their new "forever homes." Any time we had a concern or question, we received almost instantaneous responses from members of the group, which helped to alleviate our anxiety regarding our new family member. Kudos to the group, and my wife and I are now members and looking forward to sharing our love of greyhounds to prospective members. all members of the group in responding

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The level of support and feedback my wife and I have received since adopting our new family member. Also appreciated that in addition to filling out a fairly comprehensive application, a member of the group came by and inspected our home to confirm our home would be a safe place for the greyhound, as well as answer any questions we might have.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to identify additional areas of opportunity where the group would be able to get the word out about the good work they do, and the quality of life that can be gained (by both us and our pet) by adopting a retired racing greyhound.

Through a chance meeting with them at a local event they attended.

What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?

We have become more aware of our actions and interactions in regards to their impact on our little "girl," and strive to be the people our greyhound thinks we are.

Working with Second Chance Greyhounds from Atlanta, was/has been a great experience. Whe we adopted from them, they made it quite easy for us, even though we live in Tennessee. We love our Lyric, and because of the positive experience have continues to work with the group. We also fostered a dog for the group and we are planning on joining in on other group activities. It is nice to be involved with such a positive minded group! Best part is they truly care about the greyhounds welfare, and don't seem to have any of the politics going on like so many other groups out there.

Our family was ready to expand and so I had begun looking for a dog. Because of our busy schedules, we needed a dog which would "slide" into our family style and adapt quickly. It seemed like an impossible requirement. One day I saw an ad about Second Chance Greyhounds. I went to their website and researched the breed. Back at the website I learned more about the greyhounds in Second Chance. I realized that one of these dogs was perfect for our family! I contacted the group and was suprised to learn how serious they were about making sure our family understood the needs of a greyhound and the commitment our family would be making. I felt really good about that!! This group puts a lot of love and effort into making sure the dogs will be protected and properly cared for before they allow someone to adopt them. Additionally, the group offers support throughout ownership. There are meetings, events, foster programs, sitters, play groups, somany things that are postive and supportive for the people and the dogs. After my first adoption, I later fostered another greyhound and later adopted her too. They are amazing dogs coming out of an amazing program!! Second Chance is WONDERFUL!!!

The greyhounds have been fantastic dogs. They are part of our family. They engage with anyone! We take them with us to visit my grandmother in the nursing home. When we are out, people stop to greet the dogs and are amazed at how gentle and friendly they are.

Our group is not centralized and events sometimes seem too far away. However, the group does a lot of things and we participate when we can.

The dogs are such a joy. Our family takes pleasure in engaging with the dogs. We also enjoy being out with them, going places and watching people react and play with them.

Adopted a greyhound from them. They did a terrific job with matching the perfect dog for our family's personality. We have had him for just over 2 months now and has been an awesome addition to our family. They have been very prompt at answering any questions we have had about our greyhound. Overall, a great agency
