My horse shares a barn with a SAFE rescue horse and up until that time I didn't know any "rescuses" personally. This awesome guy was saved from sure death and has had a loving environment in which he thrives and is very much a part of the herd. SAFE is an organization that not only rescues horses but works with all areas of horse owner education and equine rehabilitation. As our world gets smaller and the economy is changing SAFE has had to work even harder to create and maintain a safe and quality environment for horses and people. Contributing to SAFE directly contributes to many areas of prevention and good quality education for anyone interested in equine ownership, volunteering or just loving horses from afar .

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My horse lives with a form SAFE horse. He wouldn't be here if SAFE had not rescues him and found him an awesome home.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase facilities to help more horses.

I've long been interested in the issue of horse rescue and rehabilitation. And in recent months, I've had the honor of learning more about SAFE and its leadership. I"ve been director of another nonprofit organization in the Seattle and am familiar with the challenges of engaging volunteers and using their talents efficiently and consistently. SAFE does a fantastic job of this and runs a very tight operation. I'm impressed and hope to be supporting this effort more in the future in the area of organizational development and fundraising.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing how they've rehabilitated horses that have suffered extreme neglect.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find the funding to create greater staffing infrastructure. The organization is well worth it.

SAFE is a rescue I can truly support and stand behind. Boasting impressive organization, transparency, ethics and passion for rescue. I love getting the frequent updates and watching the progress of their rescued horses. They go above and beyond just rescue - they fully rehabilitate, train, and do a fantastic job placing these horses! I can feel good about donating to such a honorable organization, because I can actually see where my dollar goes. As a professional in the horse community, I fully recommend and support SAFE as a invaluable resource to our community.

I have personal experience with several of their success stories. One in particular boards at my facility - Heidi, a starved and neglected Arabian mare- now fully rehabilitated and adopted into a loving home with one of my 4-H students!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I think they are doing a great job. I have made suggestions in the past that were openly discussed and heard and some even went into effect.

I have first hand knowledge of a horse that SAFE rescued and placed in a home. He is a horse that most likely was down to his last chance and they brought him back and gave him the possibility to have a new life. He has been with three people since SAFE took him in and they took the time and effort to find the right home for him. Their screening process is in depth as they want a real forever home for the horses and it has payed off in the long run for them. He is just an ordinary horse, but very special to the one who now has him for he is well loved and loves well.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The results of finding homes for the horses not only rescues them but has the possibility of rescuing the people as well. This makes a difference to everyone involved as the changes occur in both lives.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Like to see an ability to have a larger facility to help more horses and humans be able to connect.

S.A.F.E. is and excellent rescue. I'm familiar with several equine rescues and this one is the most organized and caring one I've had any association with. The horses get wonderful care and training in order to find them appropriate homes. This is the rescue that our local youth club donates their time and necessities too as well.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I helped their trainer with some of the rescues as well as volunteerd time.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would not change a thing. They are dfinitely doing things the right way.

S.A.F.E does a good job of providing transitional care for horses in need; provides good vet & farrier care, training and screening of potential adoptors. They seem to have be transparent about accounting for donated funds.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've known of S.A.F.E for almost 5 years and seen them provide consistant, prudent services to starving and at risk horses.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

It would be nice if they had more extensive facilities and could take more horses!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

making an immediate change for people or animals in our community

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very caring and the leadership continually goes the extra mile

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

hire a full time manager with support staff and provide services for more horses

Ways to make it better...

the organization was more centralized

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

access to enough hay & grain & facilites to service the huge population of neglected/abandoned/abused horses

One thing I'd also say is that...
