My son participated this past summer in a teen production workshop offered at 6th Street Playhouse. The experience literally changed his life! He met other teens like him that shared his love of drama and musicals; he felt accepted by his peers and nurtured by the awesome directors and choreographers that he felt honored to be working with and learning from. (As a single, unemployed parent I greatly appreciated the partial scholarship my son received so that he was able to participate in the workshop.) After the summer workshop my son decided to dedicate himself to theater and he has earned small roles in two 6th Street productions; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and It's a Wonderful Life; and I can honestly say that he has had the best experience and the best time of his life being a part of the 6th Street Playhouse family.

I have worked with the 6th Street Playhouse since its days as simply "The Santa Rosa Players", as a music director and actor. I have watched the quality of the productions go up and up and up for the last 10 years. Now the company is in a gorgeous theater, built by a theater person himself, who happens to be an outstanding architect, Paul Gilger. Since being in this space for seven(?) years, and since combining with the Actor's Theater, the 6th Street Playhouse is the heartbeat of theater in Sonoma County. The mainstage carries the larger shows and musicals, and attracts very talented performers, directors, set designers and musicians in the pit, while the small blackbox theater is perfect for experimental pieces, cabaret, improv, and lesser-known musicals. The Education Department is an extremely important part of the life of the 6th Street Playhouse. There are exciting, excellent programs for children and teens, with which I have closely worked, and I have seen children grow from children into drama students at NYU, AMDA, Circle in the Square, and more. It is a perfect place for children to learn and grow as actors.

I have music-directed and played piano for several 6th Street Playhouse productions since they moved into their wonderfully renovated warehouse space in Railroad Square. I am consistently impressed with the vocal, acting and directing talent that 6th Street Playhouse secures from the local area. I'm also impressed with the production values (sets, costumes, tech etc.) that the company comes up with on a very small budget. More recently, I've been able to attend shows as an audience member, and have seen that the overall effect is excellent from the audience perspective. 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa is an outstanding non-profit performing arts company, and well worth supporting, by any means possible.

6th Street Playhouse is quite possibly the best live theater venue in the North Bay. Always original, putting on productions of both award-winning blockbuster caliber, as well as smaller, independent, thought provoking dramas and comedies. Their casting and production quality is always superb and top-notch.

The 6th Street Playhouse produces professional quality performances of both classic and contemporary musicals and plays. I have been consistently impressed with the productions I have seen there and proud to be involved as a volunteer. The recent productions of Great American Trailer Park Musical, August: Osage County & Rabbit Hole are among the best I have seen. If you've never been there it's worth checking out - there's sure to be something in the season that you'll love!

I have been an actor at the Sixth Street Playhouse for a number of years, and have enjoyed countless performances in both the GK Hardt Theater and the Studio Theater. Drawing on the talents of local artists, the Playhouse manages to put on consistently excellent productions, ranging from beloved classic musicals to the latest Pulitzer-Prize winning dramas. Although I have done community theater in many places all over Sonoma County, California, there is no place I would rather invest my time and energy than at the Sixth Street Playhouse.

I have worked at 6th Street as both a teacher and an actor and I cannot express the love I have for that place. The 6th Street Playhouse puts so much energy and passion into its shows because they care about making art! The Playhouse also provides wonderful opportunities for children to learn and perform, ranging from teens to 7 or 8 year olds. The Playhouse has gone through some rough patches int eh past few years, but I am so glad that We have Craig Miller as Artistic Director, who is driving that place back to the excellence it started out as! I have been blessed with the opportunities I've had there! I am forever grateful for that place and I want to thank them for all they have done for art and myself.

It never occurred to me to see plays in Santa Rosa and view it as an occasion. Then I went and saw 6th street's Rent production and I was blown away! The quality of the voices was outstanding and the musical was on par with the Broadway show I saw years before. This place is a community treasure.

Far and away the best theater troupe north of the Golden Gate Bridge, the place where the ablest of Sonoma County actors call home.
