A wonderful organization with some of the most dedicated patrons and volunteers I can imagine. Their goal of achieving "Vision 20/20 by the year 2020" in India (eradicate curable blindness in India by the year 2020), though seemed steep a few years ago, now seems totally feasible. The integrity of the organization, coupled with the dedication to quality service makes it a highly rewarding experience to be part of. Looking forward, the organization needs to (and it is) focus on expanding to other geographies even further that can take them closer to their goal.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the impact I, along with the organization, have had in many lives in India and the large number of new volunteers who have joined this group.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with the wonderful selfless people who have put the goal of Vision 20/20 by 2020 in front of them, knowing them and being part of this large family.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all ages (as young as 5 to as old as 85), all religions, all backgrounds and the most selfless, wonderful and perseverent people

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change its goal of Vision 20/20 by 2020 (eradicate curable blindness by the year 2020 in India) to Vision 20/20 by 2012, making one of the biggest positive impacts in the second most populous country in the world, making it go worldwide sooner

Sankara Eye Foundation is probably the only India-focused non-profit that has a well defined mission, backed up by real projects and successful execution. Sankara's volunteers not only work hard but work with passion as well.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

almost every aspect ... right from volunteering in events, office admin help, mentoring new volunteers, interacting with donors, visiting the Hospitals in India and interacting with doctors and patients.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

There is no real limit on how much a volunteer can or should contribute. Anyone with a great idea and the passion can make things happen here.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

highly motivated and energized.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

give vision to almost 300,000 poor people free of cost OR add 3 new Hospitals to it's community outreach which inturn will increase the annual free surgeries by 30,000.

I am a longtime volunteer and supporter of SEF USA. I started volunteering from the time the organization started in US in 1998. Its been a great experience to be a part of this wonderful organization of honest, motivated and hard working volunteers. I have seen this organization grow from supporting one hospital in India to 8 hospitals performing 100,000 surgeries. Nothing is impossible for this wonderful group with a clear mission of vision 20/20 by the year 2020. It has been a very humbling experience. This is also our extended family far away from home. For my son this is his family. Our parent org in India has also been voted as the NGO with the best rural outreach program. I am glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of this org and hope to see it achieve its goal.

SEF is a wonderful organization which provides the gift of vision to many many people in need. I have volunteered for the SoCal chapter of SEF and my experience volunteering has been inspiring. The organization is very honest and is run by many dedicated volunteers. I hope SEF continues to grow and achieve its goal of 20/20 by 2020.

Sankara Eye Foundation is an amazing organization. I especially appreciate the transperancy and honesty of the organization. My entire family and all my friends have since contributed to Sankara and have seen their money go to good work. It is is PHENOMENAL organization and they really mean it when they say every person matters: patients, volunteers, everyone.

I relocated to North East from Michigan and was looking for an organization where I like to spend my time as a volunteer. I came across Sanakra by chance and I was very impressed by the noble cause of the organization. Sankara's mission of "Vision 20/20 by 2020" is what motivates me to do more for the organization. SEF has Four star on charity navigator and I love to boast about that to the sponsors.
