The san antonio area foundation is a community foundation which consists of trusts and funds contributed by individuals, corporations and public agencies to benefit bexar county and certain south texas counties. The individual funds and trusts make charitable contributions as specified in their governing instruments.
the san antonio area foundation is partnering with the city of san antonio's animal care services department to accomplish the city's goal to become an animal non kill community. We have established a consortium of partners to oversee the implementation of the san antonio animal care services' strategic plan. The primary areas of focus are to increase adoptions from shelters, increase the number of spay/neuter surgeries performed each year and increase awareness regarding responsible pet ownership.

This is a great community foundation. The staff is progressive and they have been a tremendous support for nonprofits in the San Antonio community. They are being very proactive in helping nonprofit organizations with operating expenses this year due to the poor economy. Other foundations should take their lead. They have participated in dialogs and workshops between foundations and nonprofits and are extremely open in finding ways that they can partner with us even with the restraints they themselves have with lower revenue from investments. Kudos to them.

They have helped a local nonprofit who lost their United Way funding get back on their feet. They not only fund nonprofits, but they have provided guidance, and other support. They are so dedicated.
