As a donor to any charity, I like to know first hand the organizational structure, skill set, efficiency and passion of the administrators. I do not donate to charities that have heavy over-head costs and over-paid management. Roses definitely meets my criteria of fiscal responsibility and compassionate service to an under-served group of children. My husband and I contribute funds to Rose of Sharon with high confidence that resources will be utilized with maximum impact in delivering service to the special needs children fortunate enough to be introducedrecru to Rose of Sharon.
Joan is the heart and soul of Roses, and her husband Randy is the muscle and strength of Roses. Together and with the support of many volunteers, they have built an incredible facility that provides a valuable service to children of special needs and to our community.

I had a very informative visit to the school in November. As a long time horse owner and rider, I was anxious to see the facility and to observe the educational benefits of the school. The facility is immaculate and very well organized as to promote the health of the horses as well as their young rioders. Horses are a positive means to restore confidence in children with disabilities. The kindness and strength of the horse enables the most disabled child to grow physically and mentally. I truly enjoyed my visit and encourage others to visit and contribute in any amount to help Roses facility, staff and the children they serve to grow. Leslie

I first met Joan while I was working at Equestrian Services, LLC,(EQSV). EQSV is a firm that that plans & designs horse facilities and resorts. She had contacted us to find out whether we could help her with some horse related layout issues with her farm. The email that she sent to EQSV was forwarded on to me, and it was apparent from her email how determined and passionate she was about her organization. I was lucky enough that my company asked me to take a trip out to Maryland to visit her and see the farm in which she ran her organization from. My co-worker and I made the trip and we were more than impressed by her and the organization she had created. It was so refreshing to meet a person like her and see all the wonderful opportunities and moments she was providing to those with disabilities. Thankfully, we were able to provide some assistance with our services and we are looking forward to continuing to watch the organization grow!
