The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a leader in educating the public on what animal welfare truely looks like. It's honest in the way it shows visitors the reality of what having wild animals in captivity means for the rest of the animal's life. They keep a beautiful and safe facility that doesn't hide the amount of effort it takes to run it which is itself an educaton tool.

I first started donating to them when they were faced with a funding shortage and having to possibly put down all the wonder animals that they had rescued. At that point around 155 wonderful exotic animals. We wrote letters like crazy asking for donations and ended up saving this wonderful place that now has an additional 100 rescues and still counting. You can always be assured that your donation is put to the best use as this place. Everything goes for the animals. These poor animals have finally been rescued from horrible lives and it is wonderful now to visit them and see the great difference Pat Craig and staff have made in their lives. Pat is a trully remarkable and caring man. It is like heaven for them there now and heaven to visit them and see the incredible changes in these majestic animals.

I first became involved with this great place when they were facing the horrible possiblity of closing due to funding problems and possibly having to euthanize these wonderful creatures. Luckily they were all saved and Pat has gone on to rescue even more animals. This place quickly took over a large place in my heart. I love the animals, Pat and all the people connected to this marvelous place. If you want a place you can donate with confidence that your money is being used wisely, this is it. I have adopted several animals and continue to help with other items as I can. If I were able, I would love to be a more active volunteer, but due to health constrainsts cannot. I keep urging Pat to write a book profiling his life and all the great rescues he has been on. This place is for the animals and is truly the most peaceful place I have been. You can see what wonderful care has been given to each severely abused animal and the love Pat has for every one of them. They are all his babies.

Win the power ball so I could donate more money and Pat could save even more of these misbused animals.
I visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary twice this year. The first time was out of curiosity. I was thrilled to see how well the animals are kept and how clean the habitats were. I talked about this trip to some friends and as one friend was already a donor, we decided to go to one of the fund raisers in the Lion Biosphere in August. My heart was stolen by the stories of the roadside lions and now I have adopted one of them. This past Sunday was St Francis Day and many people brought their animals to various churches to be blessed. As my dogs were getting their blessing, I thought how nice it would be next year to have a celebration and blessing of the wild animals for they are truly blessed by the great love and freedom the Sanctuary affords them.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is an incredible place. Pat Craig has dedicated his life to saving large animals from horrible situations. Along with him is a staff of tireless volunteers who help him educate the public to the very real, dangerous and cruel trade of captive wild animals as pets. If my husband and I lived in Colorado we both would be volunteering in some capacity every month. But since we live in California, we compensate by donating on a monthly basis. I encourage everyone who reads this to consider doing the same thing. If 10,000 people donated $5.00 a month it would only cost you $60.00 a year! And generate $50,000 for the sanctuary. Our donation is automatically sent from our checking account. And just for the record, we donate $25.00 a month. That's how much we care about the work Pat is doing to save these magnificent animals.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would add guided tours where the visitors could learn the names of the animals and their rescue story, instead of handing the visitors a notebook. I would also redesign the notebook.
I first heard about Wild Animal Sanctuary on the TV show Animal Planet.
I was touched by the love and care Pat Craig and his family and co-workers have for the abused and mistreated large animals.
Since these lions, tigers, bears and wolves can't be rescued by individuals, we must help the Wild Animal Sanctuary, through generous donations, do what they know best! Their sanctuary is a haven for wild animals to live in their natural environment.
They are open year round for visits!

I love The Wild Animal Sanctuary. The work they do to save these beautiful creatures is so very important and must continue at all costs. Most of the animals that come to the sanctuary, wouldn't have a chance without the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers at the sanctuary. I don't make much money but am more than happy to donate $10 every month to the sanctuary. I am hoping to volunteer soon. Every time I visit the santuary, it makes me happy to see all the cared for and happy animals who were given a second chance to thrive. May The Wild Animal Sanctuary continue to grow and prosper forever.

Get more people to donate every month . . . if even just $5.
I first met TWAS and Pat Craig in 2000 while living in Colorado Springs. I remember how peaceful and loving the animals were with Pat. I watched as he and other volunteers would stop what they were doing, go up to the fence and spend time talking and playing with the animals.
These animals knew they were in a safe-haven with TWAS and their gentle behavior was a reflection of the kindness they received.
After my visit to the sanctuary I was so impressed with the way the
animals were loved and cared for that I became a monthly donor.
I'm a senior citizen on fixed income but I know my contributions help care and protect many rescued animals. I moved out of Colorado in 2001 and can no longer visit the sanctuary but I continue to send my monthly donations.
.What better way to help God's creatures then through TWAS. God bless you, Pat, and all the wonderful volunteers for helping His animals.

From my first experience at the Sanctuary, I have been a promoter of their philosophy. Rescue, neuter, and give a restful existance to animals that may have been mistreated, or are just in the Golden Years of their life.
I live in CA, but visit the Sanctuary with my grandchildren whenever I am in CO. See you at Thanksgiving 2011 to select a new animal to support, since our Wolf left us recently.

It is something that I enjoy with my family. The grandchildren are able to select the animal they want to support and we try to imagine which one it is when we are visiting.

I wish I were retired and could volunteer.
The work that Pat Craig and his staff of volunteers perform in order to provide wild animals with more fulfilling lives in natural habitats is beyond comprehension. These "angels of the animals" live breathe eat and sleep with overwhelming concern for their four legged friends.
I am proud to be a supporter of this organization and appreciate their dedication and love for these wild animals. The sanctuary is one of the top places that I suggest to people to visit and bring my out of state visitors to. There is no way that anyone can visit the sanctuary and not be touched by the love and devotion that is given to these animals.

I have been impressed by the growth and continued excellence of care of the Wild Animal Sanctuary throughout the years. A visit to the sanctuary changes your life and makes you aware of how we as humans need to respect the lives of our wild animal friends

Figure out a way to provide more land to them for continued growth and make sure that future development does not adversely affect their efforts
I never understood the cruelty that the average person inflicts on an animal until I visited The Wild Animal Sanctuary. From private ownership to shows in Las Vegas to circuses there is no end to what people will do to get some money at the expense of a helpless animal. Pat Craig has got a heart of gold for taking on this neverending quest to teach the general public the ramifications of trying to have a wild animal as a pet. I found the information booklets while sad, very informative and the volunteers are not only eager to share their knowledge but are very passionate about this cause. I've been to the sanctuary several times and adopted a mountain lion to help in any way I can.

I know it's not a zoo but if they allowed a closer look at the animals I think they would have more people out there donating more money.
