In the depressed economy currently affecting our nation, it is heroic efforts from organizations like Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue that provide hope for horses whose owners no longer can, or worse, no longer choose to, care for them. It is a honor and privilege to donate to these altruistic efforts, and sponsor six of Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue's rescued horses. If you cannot adopt or provide a foster home for one or more of these noble horses who so want and deserve a second change for a forever home, please consider sponsoring one or more horses. Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue is staffed with people who genuinely care for each horse, and ensure that donations are used for animal care, not indirect administrative costs. For the sake of all horses who need a second chance nationwide, thank God there are agencies like Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue!

I have a Mustang whose training has been a challenge. I reached out to Pat and RVHR, from whom I learned about an RVHR co-worker, Diane, who does Reiki. Diane's Reiki therapy has greatly assisted us to find a way to reach this very special horse, ease his issues, and enable him to willing move ahead with trust and training. This is just another example of the ways that Pat, Diane, and all of the special people at RVHR make such meaningful contributions to horses in need. Especially in our nation's troubled economic times, where families are forced to just give up their horse(s), or horses are neglected or abandoned in vacant fields or at truck stops, it is a blessing that caring organizations like RVHR exist to protect and care for the innocent victims. God bless Pat and RVHR for the wonderful works and support for our noble horses!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Where a series of trainers have given up on him, RVHR found us the solution, in Reiki therapy through RVHR associate, Diane, which has proven to be the key that unlocked the issues preventing my BLM mustang from progressing with trust and training.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find ways to help RVHR to generate the funding and resources to continue, ideally, to expand their horse rescue and care efforts, so that no horse should ever have to suffer again.

I have been knowing about rvhr, or better known as roanoke valley horse rescue. They care greatly for all the animals that are there. They treat each of them as if they were there own pet at home. It is a place like no other. I would even say that it is the best place in Virginia that you could ever go to or adopt from. They have the most caring people and treat the animals there with the best love and care they can give. If you have any time in your schedule i would highly advise you to check out there website or even go by there to donate a few things. They deserve every bit of help they can get and it would be greatly appreciated by them and the animals. That is for certain!!!

I first discovered RVHR last January. I was surfing online looking for volunteer opportunities in Virginia. RVHR was listed and after reading about the organization, I decided I wanted to sponsor a horse there.
I make a monthly contribution which helps cover the care of a horse.
I am on
my second horse now as a sponsor. I feel that I am making a difference in the life of a horse that was neglected. Some of the horses' stories are really horrific, and as an animal lover, I want to do something to help these beautiful animals. I had the opportunity to visit RVHR and meet the horse I presently sponsor,Olivia, a neglected Arabian mare. Some of the horses that come to RVHR have some issues involving human contact. These horses are worked with individually by the staff and the many volunteers who come to groom or just give "some loving on" the horses. These horses eventually become attentive when humans come around.
RVHR does not have fancy horse barns, but every attempt is made so that all the horses there have adequate shelter, nutritious feed
customized for their individual needs, quality hay and good pastures. I was quite impressed with the volunteers and staff that faithfully come and give these horse a good quality life.

the wonderful feel I have that 100% of my contribution goes directly to the horses. I know that by sponsoring a horse, I am making a difference in this horse's life and giving them quality life.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I'd like to see more people get involved with these horses, through gifts of time, skills, needed supplies to run the rescue, and monetary contributions.

I'm proud to be a sponsor at RHVR. I would like to be a more regular volunteer there, however because of the physical distance, 140 miles, and a 3 hour drive, I currently am an occasional visitor.

I work with Vicki - who volunteers faithfully at the RVHR. She has relayed her experience with others at work and encourages donations (of all sorts). I donated to the RVHR based on what I saw on their website and the personal stories Vicki has shared. These folks are very dedicated to taking care of the animals and not just the physical needs of Food, water and shelter but it is also their mission to take volunteers and have them work with a horse one on one - to develop a sense of trust between man and horse so that perhaps when the time comes they will be adoptable and can bring joy to a family of their own. I have seen local news broadcasts about the work and willingness to take in animals who have suffered terrible neglect and in some cases abuse even when funds were low - they work hard to raise awareness and hopefully funds in the midst of tireless hours of plain physical labor. Very kind hearted folks here.

This place is a god send to horses and people! A lot of good people have to give up there beloved horses because of illness or job loss and they are taken in! She also takes in the abused and neglected horses nurses them back to health and gets them to trust people again. She is a miracle worker! She only wants the best for her large family of horses, donkeys, dogs, cats etc. Sometimes horses just can't be adopted out but they will also have a wonderful and loving home. Everyone should find it in there heart to have such kindness then we wouldn't have such a large need! It is a wonderful and terrific thing that everyone does at the Rescue and I know there are lots of angels watch over them.

Great experience to volunteer at RVHR!!! Good for the soul. The horses are cared for by people who genuinely care for each horse as their own. They do great work and could really use the extra funding to allow these horses the best chance for a comfortable life.

All hats off to RVHR for their selfless giving to everyone of their animals as well as staff. This is not a job you do for money - it is COMPLETELY out of love. Having previously worked with Pat, I cannot say enough good things about her and this wonderful organization! Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication.

The dedicated folks at RVHR have saved almost 200 horses and re-homed 125 - what an honorable and charitable group of people! I am touched by the work they do and hope to visit the rescue this year. If you can help in any way, no matter how small, it will be much appreciated by the wonderful folks at RVHR and the magnificent creatures they work to save.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

The economic climate is tough right now and I know charities are among the first to suffer - animal charities even more so. The expense of feeding and caring for horses is significant and I wanted my gift to go where it would be needed most.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

Because I love horses and know they need help during these tough economic times.

What would you tell others about this organization?

That all donations (even small ones) can make the difference in the life of a horse who needs them.

I can only say SUPERB things about RVHR and the everyday work Pat and Jason do for the horses and other animals that are cared for. Their time and money is put into making sure a healthy and caring environment is there for all until some are able to find a new family that can give them the love they deserve!!

change nothing. I would love to help them win the money so desperatly needed for the care they provide everyday.
