Red Rover is an exceptional organization! Words cannot express the gratitude I have for them! My dog Kura had been having UTI problems for a couple months and after several trips to the vet and different antibiotics, it was becoming a real worry. We got x-rays done and saw that she had very large bladder stones. Since they were so large, there was no possibility of her passing them or being dissolved, so she needed surgery ASAP. The longer the stones are there, the more possibility of a piece becoming lodged in her urethra causing a life threatening emergency. I am currently unemployed and just the trips to the vet for the xrays and antibiotics were killing me, so when it was determined she needed surgery, I was devastated and felt hopeless. I had no idea how I would be able to make that happen and my poor baby having to live in that pain everyday was just so sad. The good people at the vet I take her to suggested I try to get some assistance from a foundation. So, I reached out to Red Rover. They said they would be willing to contribute to her surgery and help save her life. Their staff is so compassionate and helpful, it is a wonderful reminder of all that is good in this world. I would not have been able to afford her surgery if it weren't for their contribution and Kura would still be in pain and in danger. Such a blessing! Kura had her surgery last week and is recovering beautifully now! If you are looking for a truly good organization to donate to, this one is it! They save our fur babies lives!
Red Rover came to my aid when my 3year old Rottweiler needed surgery to remove foreign objects form his GI tract. They worked with me in a great time of need and were friendly, compassionate, and generous. This is a great organization and I look forward to keeping in touch with them and will give back in the future to keep it going!
About a year and a half ago, my newly adopted senior dog, Spike, was found to have a bladder stone the size of s golf ball. At 16 and with a heart murmur, several vets recommended euthanizing him. But he just didn't seem ready to go. Although he had accidents, he was clearly trying to get to the door. He held his head and tail high, had a good appetite, blood work was great and he was healthy in all other aspects. I did find two vets who agreed that while there was a risk especially at his age, he did not need to be euthanized yet.
The problem became financial. I was only working part time as I was caring for my elderly parents and did not have a couple of thousand dollars for the surgery. I came across RedRover while desperately searching for funds. After applying, I received a call from a wonderful RedRover representative who discussed Spike's situation and seemed genuinely interested in not just as a 16 year old dog, but Spike himself.
After speaking with the veterinarian's office, RedRover approved a small grant towards Spike's surgery. I was then lucky enough to be referred to another vet who agreed to do the surgery for substantially less.
Spike came through the surgery with flying colors! Now 18, while his eyesight and hearing have further declined, he remains one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had the privilege of caring for.
I cannot adequately express my gratitude to RedRover for their contribution to saving Spike's life!
Spike, a 16 year old dog whom I adopted about a year and a half ago, began having "accidents." he had been to the vet last fall and everything was fine so I assumed it was age-related. When the frequency increased, I took him to see his vet and as bacteria was found in his urine, he was being treated for a UTI.
After being on an antibiotic for a couple of days, it appeared that he was constipated. After consulting with the vet and trying the usuals (fiber, pumpkin, etc.) he went back to the vet as nothing was working. His colon was clean so they took an xray and found an extremely large bladder crystal. I was told that I needed to make a decision and that it wasn't really fair to put a 16 year old dog through surgery.
As I just didn't have the sense that he was ready to go, I sought the opinion of two other vets; both of whom felt that while surgery at his age and with a heart murmur was certainly higher risk, they felt he had a chance of making it. By then I had spent over a $1,000.00 and did not have the additional $1,500.00 that would be needed to get him the surgery. I came across the Red Rover organization as I was desperately searching for a way to save him.
The representative who contacted me after I submitted the application could not have been nicer or more understanding. She asked intelligent, thoughtful questions and gave me some suggestions regarding their thoughts on the cost quotes for the surgery. Their response was quick and professional; but very caring. When I had the chance to schedule the surgery immediately and at a significantly lower cost, they contacted the new vet right away so that by the next afternoon when I went to pick him up for surgery, their grant had been approved and arrangements already made with the new clinic.
Most organizations had lengthy application processes that did not work with an emergency situation.
Now that it's been a week since the surgery, Spike is doing great! Eating, eliminating, no accidents . . . . and he even felt well enough to chase the cat! I am so very grateful to Red Rover for helping to make this happen.
August 26th an eyewitness saw some heartless person toss a poor little dog out of their vehicle leaving her stranded on the roadside. I found this sweet little angel shortly after and discovered she was on the edge of death. She could barely stand, she was severely dehydrated, malnourished, and completely infested with mange. She didn't even look like a dog. The very next day I rushed her to a vet. I knew the bills would stack up more than I could handle. I reached out to several organizations for aid and support. Red Rover was the only one to contact me back. Laurel called me the very next day after I sent an email. She was extremely supportive and helpful. I couldn't believe how quickly Red Rover aided me in my veterinary bills. Without Red Rover there was no way I could afford her vet bills. Because of Laurel and Red Rover Kara earned a second chance at living. Once on the verge of death, she now wags her tail excited over every meal, goes for walks, taken over my bed, and tries her best to tolerate my cat. Kara and I give big thanks and love to Red Rover.
I don't even know where to begin. I was so fortunate enough to come across RedRover through The Charlotte County Humane Society. This program basically saved my cats life. She has an infection that is resistant to all medicinal treatments and requires surgery to have her limb removed. This procedure was a little out of my affordability. After finding this program and a very simple application that led me to learn that my Misty qualifies for assistance they immediately stepped in and helped. My best friend now can her surgery and continue to live a healthy life. Thank you RedRover from my entire family to yours. You all are angels.
Red Rover is a blessing! Rachael was exceptionally nice and understanding of our situation. And responded with help almost immediately. Which gave me the exact hope I needed to know that Leyna actually could have her surgery!! What a relief indeed. She had a tumor spring up between her eye and ear about the size of a nickel and was dangerously close to the eye itself. Needless to say I was starting to panic for her and being out of work to temporarily be caregiver to our elderly dad full time left funding for a pets expensive surgery obsolete.. At my wits end a friend mentioned about Red Rover and oh am I so glad they did !! She has had her surgery and is doing great. Hasn't hardly left my side.. I love this little feline whom I found "dumped" in a shopping cart at a grocery store when she was kitten. so I'll just say once again how grateful I am to you guys for helping me to help her once again...survive..
My cat, Lafayette, was suffering with repeated bladder blockages, and needed a surgery that was way out of reach for me, since I am disabled and on a fixed income. Red Rover jumped in to help as soon as I contacted them. They paid a deposit and got the vet to work with me on payments so I can save my fluffy baby boy. I am FOREVER grateful for all their help and support during this trying time.
I am disabled due to Cerebral Palsy, and just 3 days ago, my cat and only companion got sick with a backed up bladder. Without treatment he would have died a painful death. I contacted RedRover and heard back from them in just a few hours. The emails were compassionate and kind. They quickly approved me for a grant to help pay Lafayette's vet bill and got in touch with the vet to arrange it very fast. I was able to pay for my kitties vet bill and assure him a great and happy life because of Red Rover. Thank you so much!
Our sweet loving 2 year old pitbull Patches was ran over by a car on 8/29/2015. We had managed to get him emergency care but his hip was dislocated and his paw was barely hanging on resulting in needed his leg amputated. With the help of redrover we was able to have his surgery on Friday 9/4/2015. Patches is now on his way to a speedy recovery! Thank u so much redrover for helping us save Patches! We will forever be greatful!
