Target demographics: animals in crisis
Direct beneficiaries per year: nearly 2,000 animals in crisis. In 2013, we deployed RedRover Responders volunteers to help more than 1,300 animals, including those affected by the tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma. In 2013, we also helped save the lives of more than 650 animals by awarding financial grants to help Good Samaritans, pet owners, animal rescuers and victims of domestic violence care for animals in life-threatening situations
Geographic areas served: U.S. and Canada
Programs: Through RedRover Responders, we shelter and care for animals displaced by natural disasters and other crises, such as criminal seizures and hoarding cases. The RedRover Relief program provides funding to Good Samaritans, animal rescuers, pet owners and victims of domestic violence to help them care for animals in life-threatening situations. The RedRover Readers program helps children explore the bond between people and animals through stories and discussion. Volunteers visit elementary school classrooms, after-school programs, animal shelters and other venues to read to children and lead discussions -- helping children develop critical thinking skills and empathy.

after recently getting out of the military and losing my little brother to suicide I was reunited with my dog kae. Her stomach started to swell and I could see something was wrong, the vet drained 15 lbs of fluid off of her and she was diagnosed with heart worms. I was devestated. I paid the first bill and now a week later her second treatment is coming up, I was so stressed with how I was going to pay, I didnt want to cancel so I came across Red Rover, I worked with Laurel who I feel is an angel sent to me right now, without the generosity of the people who keep this foundation going I would be stuck. Kae and I cannot thank you enough! Thank you red rover for putting hope in our future xoxox

A week ago my best friend (bedlington terrier) dislocated his hip. My family and I were distraught when we found out it would cost so much to have the procedure he needed. I am so grateful for Red Rover without them he would not have walked again! The entire process was very fast and smooth-Laurel was so thorough and I could really tell she truly cared for my Puffs well being.

RedRover saved my cat's life. I am thankful each and every day that I get to spend with my kitty! We could not have done it without them. Thank you for believing in him when no one else did. He made it.

My baby suffered a urinary blockage and I found myself in a seriously difficult situation with a seriously high but necessary vet bill to save his life, I contacted RedRover and within 24 hours Laurel at RedRover was able to help me help my baby get better. My boy saved my life in the past and now it was my turn to save his. Their assistance was super fast and they provided me with more information on ways to work with the medical condition my boy was dealing with. I will soon make sure to pay the help forward as I saw the serious need of organizations such as RedRover.

I received Chloe in November 2014 as a rescue from a backyard breeder and initially did not want to keep her, because she is a Pit Bull. I never had a Pit Bull and only heard negative stories. I said I would keep her for one week until they could find a loving home for her. After 2 - 3 days I completely fell in love with her. If she could talk she would have said, "please Love me". In December 2014 she came into heat and had brownish thick discharge coming out of her. I took Chloe to the Vet and they diagnosed her with Pyometra. They could not do surgery then due to severe infection. They put her on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and pain meds and need to do surgery when the infection was gone. The surgery would cost between $1900 and $2400. I personally have been battling health issues the last 3 years myself and was hospitalized in January and March 2015. Chloe started to show signs of being ill, lethargy, drinking excess water, walking very, very slowly up stairs. I called the Vet and they said, previously her cervix was open and the puss discharged from her uterus and now she doesn't have a discharge her cervix is probably closed and surgery would have to be done immediately. I called other Vets to see if I could get the surgery done for less and found Banfield Pet Hospital would do it for around $1600. Still I did not have $1600 not working for the last 3 years. Banfield has a Hope Trust Fund to help disabled and low income people, but I would still have to cover about $600. $600 I did not have. I searched the internet for organizations that help fund emergency surgeries for pets of low income families. I applied to 9 different organizations from Thursday thru Sunday. The only response I received was from Laurel at RedRover on Friday. Through much work on the part of the vet and my faxing additional documents to RedRover they came through with additional funding and Chloe had her surgery Monday at 1:00 p.m. The surgery took about 2 hours and when the Vet called me around 3:00 and said Chloe came through the surgery great. The Vet did say if we would have waited, Chloe would have never survived. She was the worst case of closed cervix Pyometra they ever seen. Chloe's uterus was so inflamed and filled with puss that she was afraid her uterus would rupture removing it. A normal uterus weights a few ounces and Chloe's was 5.25 pounds. The Vet could not believe it never ruptured. It is one week later and Chloe is doing great. You would never know she close to death one week ago. I can't thank Laurel at RedRover enough for working with us to help Chloe get her surgery. Chloe is such a wonderful pet, she is scheduled to start Therapy and Service classes in September to be a Service dog and a therapy dog to help others as she has helped me. Again, I can't thank Laurel and RedRover enough. You helped save my Chloe.

What an amazing organization! I am seriously so grateful for the help I received to get our kitty back in his feet and back to the healthy loving kitty he is. I will definitely be paying this forward. Rachael was extremely friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to get us the help we desperately needed. Words cannot express my gratitude

My Chihuahua, Princess loves everyone and brings a smile to everyone she meets! She loves to chase after her stuffed, red crab! She is so sweet and playful; however, due to her teeth becoming infected, and my inability to pay to have oral surgery for her-she became lethargic and was not the same, but was still kind even though she was suffering. Princess is not just a dog, she is a part of our family. I am so grateful for the generosity of Red Rover and its donors-now I will not have to suffer a heartbreak. Today, Princess will receive the surgery she so desperately needs thanks to Red Rover! Red Rover donors really help people. Thanks to Red Rover, our small family will remain 'in tact' and we will be able to enjoy Princess for many years to come!

My kitten Mitzi had a spay operation at a clinic where she got a life threatening infection and had to be hospitalized at my Vet's office. Such a large bill was quite a surprise and I had no idea how to pay it. Along with other fundraising options, I reached out to Red Rover for help. Like a safety net they were there! What a relief to get help when I was so desperate. So easy to work with, Laurel was wonderful! I felt at ease and not judged. Thank you so much for your help and I'm sure Mitzi would say thank you if she could.
