Address:

1328 S. 24th St. Philadelphia PA 19146 USA

Mission:

Our mission is to assist displaced pets and their people 24/7 and free of charge to ensure that all family members are taken care of during a disaster at their home. We are a 501(c)(3) animal welfare and emergency services nonprofit organization that works in conjunction with the American Red Cross SEPA Chapter and other emergency relief organizations to provide emergency transport, shelter and veterinary care to animals involved in residential fires and other incidents. We also work within a network that includes veterinary care facilities, boarding facilities, kennels and training facilities, animal rescue groups and fosters in Philadelphia and surrounding counties.

Results:

Since our formation on July 25,2011, we’ve been called over 600 times to assistance in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester counties as well as the Lehigh Valley, Burlington and Camden, NJ. Incidents we’ve responded to include fires, house collapses, storm damage and flooding. We’ve provided emergency transport, shelter, long term fostering, emergency vet care, on-going medical care and free food delivery to the fosters and rescues for over 1000 displaced pets. We also worked within our network to get over half of the Red Paw animals spayed/neutered and vaccinated, at no cost to the owners, along with providing transportation to and from the facilities. In 2012 we participated in a Hurricane Sandy Pet Supplies Drive where we delivered items donated by individuals and local businesses to pets along the East Coast displaced by Hurricane Sandy.

Direct beneficiaries per year:

Close to 500 displaced pets in 8 counties and 2 states

Geographic areas served:

I have been following Red Paw for the past two years and cannot say enough about all the good they do! They have stepped in and filled a huge void in the community with their tireless efforts to help the family pets during some of the worst of times. I recently witnessed their efforts firsthand when a neighbor's home collapsed and the adjoining homes were evacuated as well. The families themselves were able to be helped by Red Cross, but if not for Red Paw, they would've had nowhere to take their pets. I pray that I'm never in need of the services of Red Paw, but if I ever am, I'm thankful knowing that they will be there!

My wife and I adopted our dog Deuce through the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team. We were interested in Red Paw adoptables because of the story behind each animal. Our dog Deuce was a dog who survived a fire in his home. Apparently after several months of trying to keep in touch with Deuce's owner he was surrendered to Red Paw because his people could not take care of him. Deuce became an instant member of our family. I'm grateful for the opportunity to adopt Deuce and for the job Red Paw did in trying to reunite him with his owners.

Each and every week I am in awe of the work that Red Paw Emergency Relief Fund is able to accomplish - via social media I track just a portion of the lives they have impacted, and it is nothing short of heroic. When I think of a family who have just lost everything having to worry about the safety of their beloved animal[s], I am thankful that these brave volunteers exist.

There can be no life more deserving of help than those innocent animals who depend so deeply on humans, and who spend their entire life loving and nurturing us while asking for so little in return. The work of Red Paw Emergency Relief Fund is nothing short of epic - the volunteers who find the time to respond 24/7 heroic.

Imagine having your whole life fall apart due to unexpected disaster, and at your most chaotic moment to perhaps not even know where your beloved animal may be - only to find that it has been found, cleaned, seen by a veterinarian and housed in a loving home... all to be returned to your arms once life has been brought back to normal.

In my mind there are few programs as vital as Red Paw - how they have not always existed - and how they don't exist everywhere - are the only questions.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to have them go national and provide a reliable funding stream.

Much needed rescue organization. Reacues can breathe easy knowing someone else cares about their pets too.

Red Paw does excellent work. They go after animals displaced by fires and disasters of all types. I've never seen any other organization like this that provides such a service, including housing, neutering, re-housing, and finding new homes for displaced pets. I'm very happy to have learned about them. I hope that I never need their services, but am glad they are around!

If it wasn't for Red Paw a lot of pets and their families would be lost to each other. They go above and beyond to help people and their pets in a time when help is needed so badly.

I LOVE this organization and hearing about the work they do. I love animals. I have 6 cats (indoors) and all but one was rescued from my yard. Word gets around (meow) and now a feral/stray colony lives in my yard. I love them all dearly. I wish I could do more. Your area is soooo lucky to have this organization. I live in Simpsonville SC and I have researched the area (including Greenville) and there is NO organization to help these little critters. I am particularly partial to cats because there are so many of them and they don't get the attention that dogs get (my opinion). In closing.....KUDOS to all of you who volunteer your time to save these little critters with no voice of their own.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't change a thing...instead would add more organizations so crazy cat ladies such as myself can volunteer. That would be legacy enough for me. :)
