I'm currently pursuing my social internship with Purbachal Ananda Foundation (PAF). PAF is a modest, humble yet honest start and is directed towards development & education of children. What is impressive about PAF is consistent health check-up, facilities like education at a local school and three meals a day which they provide to the children residing here. It is impressive that just 4 years old and still operating at a grass root level, the PAF has managed to establish contacts with many social bodies and obtained grants from national individuals/organizations and international bodies like The Probini Foundation, USA. Right now though, the PAF requires immediate support in terms of fixed source of income, skilled staff and infrastructure requirements. I'll be connected to this organization for a long term and help them with my skill and knowledge as much as I can.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

approach the youths of city and various other states and give them the opportunity to become part of the organization by taking projects or internships with us on a short term and long term basis.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the will of its founder and support staff who have sustained the hardship of establishing and maintaining such a foundation and continue to put their effort with honesty.

Ways to make it better...

There must be system in place regarding filing, using computer and technology to maintain database.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

monetary support, fixed source of income, skilled staff in multiple areas, infrastructure build-up

PURBACHAL ANANDA FOUNDATION (AN OASIS OF LOVE FOR CHILDREN & AGED PERSONS) (Registered Under Societies Registration Act West Bengal XXVI of 1961. S/1L/32097) Regd. & Communication Office: 2/32, Purbachal, Durgapur-713201, Burdwan, West Bengal, India. Inspired by the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna Dev, Sri Sri Ma Saradadevi & Swami Vivekananda, Purbachal Ananda Foundation, a home for the destitute has been rendering services to the needy since 2005. We humbly vow to provide shelter to some homeless oppressed child and to support them for becoming a good citizen of our motherland. This noble mission was started with only 4 orphan children in a rented house at Purokonda Village under Barjora Police Station of Bankura District. Meanwhile, Rupanug Gouriya Math kindly donated a piece of land (nearly 3 bigha) in this village where we could build 3 mud houses (hut) and started to live. Slowly the number of such child increases. At present, there are 39 children (20 boys & 19 girls), the youngest is of 3 years and the eldest 13 years old. Many benevolent persons, organizations have taken interest in these humanitarian activities and stood by us. To mention a few, of them are Rama Krishna Mission Calcutta Students Home, Rotary Club of Durgapur, Tapassya Foundation, Probini Foundation, T.C.S, Parivaar, Samparc, Tomorrows Foundation and many others. With their kind assistance, two single storey pucca houses (one for boys and other for girls) and one small kitchen are built on this land. The built up space is still insufficient for them and we are facing various difficulties to house them in this area. Volunteers and staff still have to live in a small mud house. Along with the regular activities of this home, we run i) A Free Coaching center up to xth standard. More than 200 students of this locality attend the coaching center. A few of them do not even have the opportunity to join any formal school. Some young volunteers of this village bear the responsibility of tutoring these students. Still now, we are able to arrange only a nominal monthly honorarium for them. ii) A Library comprising of text books up to graduate level and many reference books. Needy students of nearby villages avail this opportunity. iii) A Tailoring Training center for women to make them self supported. Nearly 30 women are regularly trained in this center. iv) Occasional health camp (sponsored by DSP CSR) and cloth distribution (sponsored by Ramakrishna Mission) for the villagers. We are in the need of more built up living space, a study hall, library cum reading room, office room. We are also looking for generating funds to meet up the regular expenses for our activities. We express our sincere gratitude to all kind hearted persons, organizations who extended their generous support to our activities. We fervently appeal to all of you to kindly visit and bless these children. Our volunteers will also be encouraged by your august presence in this home. We will be happy to welcome you, your relatives and friends any time of your convenience. With deep regards, Yours Faithfully, Arindam Banerjee Secretary Purbachal Ananda Foundation 9474885295 arindam@pafindia.org All donation are exempted U/S 80G of the Income Tax Act 1961 Government of India
