I have served on the PROGRAM's Board for six years. The organization provides housing, counseling, and life skills to women and children involved in the criminal justice system. Additionally, the employees who serve the women given them love, encouragement, and confidence - often it is the first time that the women have experienced these positive supports. Women who receive services from the PROGRAM have a far lower recidivism rate than those who do not.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have spoken to many women whose lives have been changed by The PROGRAM. Some of them who had no life skills and served long prison sentences are now successful business owners, mothers, and community leaders.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Stop the funding cuts that the organization suffers each year.

This is an amazing agency with staff who are dedicated and client focused. Clients receive comprehensive services developed around their needs. From educational programs to family building, The PROGRAM is able to provide the community a resource that is matched by no other.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the successes of their clients, well after their discharge from the programming structure.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

see if less restrictive funding was available to aid them in accomplishing their mission.

Over the past thirty years I have had the pleasure of working with The Program through the criminal justice system. This agency has always been a non profit agency, so must often struggle to obtain funds to keep the program running. They somehow always managed and were able to provide quality programming to women in prison and the community. They have a dedicated staff that has a difficult clientele. Over the years they have grown from simply providing life skills to women in prison to experience in running a family center, to operating a community center, and a halfway house. Their presence in the community is well received and appreciated.

I have seen many lives changed with the help of this organization. Not only women but their children.

I am not sure anything I could suggest has not already been attempted or changed.

As part of an overall church service project to help Women in Prison in and their Families I got involved with The PROGRAM to volunteer the help of my IT skills, fixing computers and installing computer networks for the organization.

I am proud to contribute my time and talent to an agency
that has been helping the local community for over 30 years. The PROGRAM brings a wealth of experience and provides needed counselling, rehabilitation, educational and inspirational opportunities for incarcerated women who are returning to the workforce and other potentially under-served populations in the local community.

I have always believed in the power of technology to provide tools that help people achieve their potential. I am proud to have helped build a computer lab at two facilities managed by The PROGRAM to help women gain basic computer skills, assist in the search for employment and allow them to gain experience and guidance while interacting with others as they prepare to re-join the workforce.

On one occasion I showed up thinking I was just going to fix some basic computer problems and I ended up offering support and assistance to help clients fill out job applications that day. Watching clients gain confidence and experience while they use the computer lab to submit job resumes was personally rewarding. if I didn't have to work full-time I would volunteer more time in the computer lab because I believe this agency has the experience to truly make a difference in the local community.

Our agency has worked with The Program for Female Offenders for 14 years. I believe that this organization was established and dedicated to helping women become productive members of society through their many programs offered. The compassionate and caring staff make this organization successful in completing their mission with not only helping the women but their families.

The Great!

I have not personally experienced the results of this organization; however, every year at renewal, I see the number of clients they are serving.

I would make no changes.
