Mission:
The West will always be an attractive target for those who would exploit its riches for personal gain, and we serve as guardians, a permanent fixture of the landscape - ever vigilant in the defense of the West and those who call it home. Our role is as strategic advocates employing the full power of the law, science and policy to develop innovative solutions to secure lasting environmental protections. We use our advocacy skills in all three branches of federal, state and local governments and also help link local causes to federal, regional and statewide conservation efforts. By integrating science and policy into our work we develop comprehensive solutions to our most urgent environmental problems. Whether in the public squares, town halls, state capitals, courtrooms, or legislatures, we work with the citizens of the West from start to finish to ensure that our intertwined natural and cultural heritage is passed on to future generations better than we found it.
