Mission
For 32 years Tree Trust has been bringing people together to create positive, lasting changes in their lives and in their communities.
We do this because we believe there is a need — now more than ever — for us to actively engage in preserving a quality of life beyond our own lifetime.
By merging lives and landscapes, our programs…
*Provide meaningful opportunities for greening our local community.
*Give youth the chance to experience success, boost their self-confidence and find direction.
*Teach practical job skills to help adults re-shape their lives.
*Help neighbors understand and connect with each other and the natural world.
Founded in 1976, Tree Trust operates and is located in Minnesota. Our mission is to improve the community environment by investing in people.
Key Facts
Geographic areas served:
Twin Cities seven-county metropolitan area
Target demographics:
We offer services to youth and adults of all ethnicities, incomes and abilities throughout the Twin Cities metro area and in selected communities in Greater Minnesota, while maintaining a particular focus on underserved populations and neighborhoods.
Results to date:
In our 32 years of service we have:
• Provided job training and employment for 30,000 young people and 9,000 adults.
• Completed hundreds of park maintenance, landscaping and construction projects.
• Planted 70,000 trees and shrubs in schools, parks and community areas.
• Increased awareness and educated 110,000 students, teachers and community members about the importance of trees and green spaces to the health and vitality of a community.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Each year we directly serve over 7,000 people and countless neighborhoods, parks and shared outdoor areas through our programs.
Obstacles:
Despite the challenges caused by a struggling economy, we maintain a commitment to improving operating efficiencies in order to channel a majority of funding to our direct services. This year more than ever we seek the support of donations from the community to help us continue to transform Minnesota’s lives and landscapes.
Your donation of $150 enables us to:
Plant one six- to eight-foot tree – not a sapling – in a local park or recreation area and arrange for three years of professional maintenance so it can thrive.
