Results to date:
During the Swatara Sojourn each year, we help to develop stewards of the Swatara Watershed by canoeing and cleaning up litter. People from 8-80 help with this endeavor. 2009 was our 21st year.
Direct beneficiaries per year: hundreds
Indirect beneficiaries per year: hundreds of thousands through clean water
Obstacles:
We are close to preserving 3,341’ of fishable banks along the Swatara. The site also has a small boat access. We need to raise a match of $50,000 to grants received from PA Fish and Boat Commission and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
A second project involves preserving our ‘Falling Water,’ the Armar Bordner Cabin built on Rattling Run.
What your donation will allow us to do:
Preserve special places and eco systems in the Swatara Watershed for generations to come.
Your donation of $50 enables us to:
Provide a porta-potty for one month at the Bordner Cabin in Swatara State Park.
Your donation of $500 enables us to:
Purchase insurance to cover our volunteers.
Your donation of $5000 enables us to:
