Mission
More than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide each year. The mission of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to cure kids’ cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships.
Key Facts
Geographic areas served:
Argentina, Asia, Australia, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, China, France, Grenada, Guam, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.
Target demographics:
St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events are great for the entire family! We have had children as young as 4 years old shave and our oldest shavee to date was 96 years old!
Results to date:
Overall, St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $69 million since 2000 and has held more than 2,400 events where more than 106,000 volunteers have braved a shave.
Obstacles:
Since our first event was held on St. Patrick’s Day, most of our events are now held throughout the month of March which makes it a very busy time for our small staff. We have a smaller staff to ensure that the maximum amount of money goes to research.
What your donation will allow us to do:
Grant funds have been distributed to over 230 institutions for laboratory research and to help make clinical trials available to more children than ever, giving those children treatment that offers the best chance for a cure. Forty-two Fellows and 21 Scholars have also been funded to encourage the best and brightest doctors to pursue careers in childhood cancer research. Your support truly makes a difference!
