Organize our catalogues to help reduce clutter.

Be a greeter at the door. We have found that donations always increase significantly when we have a greeter.

To engage the public in the creative experience through contemporary craft.

Results:

SCC was established in 1971 by Elizabeth Rockwell Raphael to broaden opportunities for craft artists. Since moving to it’s Smallman Street location in 1986, the organization has presented 162 exhibitions featuring the work of more than 1,325 artists. SCC is one of the few arts organizations in Western Pennsylvania that is free of charge. SCC offers a variety of outreach programs through partnerships with social service agencies that address four target audiences: children at risk and their families, the homeless, literacy students and the elderly.

Stopped in after breakfast in the Strip District. I'd seen some of the exhibits through friends' facebook links online, but had never been here before so didn't make the connection until I was standing in front of the Charms exhibit! Love it. Friendly, helpful staff, great artists. I'll be back ... more »

I looked ahead on the website to see the store hours to make sure they were open, but when I stopped in on a Monday there was no one in sight. I spoke to someone in the office (a younger woman with dark hair) but she seemed a little agitated with helping me. I have been coming here for years and ... more »

As an artist, I've been working with the people at SCC for about a year now. They're on the ball, friendly, passionate and smart. They host two amazing grants each year (the LEAP award and the Raphael Prize), put on top notch shows, and do their part to educate Pittsburgh's public on the craft ... more »
