Description: Shakespeare & Company’s Fall, Holiday and Winter seasons come complete with merriment, intrigue, romance, and even a flying saucer or two (thanks in part to Orson Welles)!

By now, it’s a well-known fact that there’s always something going on at Shakespeare & Company. Our cornucopia of year-round offerings provides audiences with exciting, thoughtful productions long after the Summer season has ended. As the leaves begin to change, our Fall, Holiday and Winter seasons will rev up, giving audiences a cheery dose of entertainment during these chillier months.

This fall, we’re embracing the Halloween spirit with the provocative "War of the Worlds," a live adaptation of Orson Welles’s thrilling radio broadcast about Martians invading Earth. Complete with song, dance, and live 1940s-style radio advertisements, this re-imagined production has our versatile S&Co. actors slipping seamlessly from one character to another. Come December, our newest holiday tradition, "The Santaland Diaries" (from beloved humorist David Sedaris), will light up the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre featuring the slightly jaded but loveable elf, Crumpet.

The New Year rings in with Moliére’s sharp-witted farce "The Learned Ladies," directed by Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer.

And, of course, concurrent with these performances we have the Education Program’s 23rd Annual "Fall Festival of Shakespeare," the January Month-long Intensive actor training program, the Conservatory at Shakespeare & Company and their production of "Cymbeline," special events like Will 448 (our namesake’s Birthday Bash), our Spring Tour of Shakespeare: "Macbeth," our fun-filled production of "Shakespeare and A Language that Shaped a World," and too many others to mention. With so much going on, it’s clear that we don’t really have an “off-season” anymore, and that’s just how we like it.

At Shakespeare & Company, we believe that creativity and artistic innovation are year-round endeavors, so please join us as we dive headfirst into a fresh round of fabulous events and shows.

Mission:
Founded in 1978, Shakespeare & Company aspires to create a theatre of unprecedented excellence rooted in the classical ideals of inquiry, balance and harmony; a company that performs as the Elizabethans did -- in love with poetry, physical prowess and the mysteries of the universe. With a core of over 150 artists, the company performs Shakespeare, generating opportunities for collaboration between actors, directors and designers of all races, nationalities and backgrounds. S&Co provides original, in-depth, classical training and performance methods. S&Co also develops and produces new plays of social and political significance. Shakespeare & Company's education programs inspire a new generation of students and scholars to discover the resonance of Shakespeare's truths in the everyday world, demonstrating the influence that classical theatre can have within a community.

Every year my girls and I prepare for another wonderful Shakespeare experience at Shakespeare and Company. It's not just a show, it's an experience. The whole place brings you in right away, there are people in period costume before the show doing bits outside. Afterwards, we always go meet the ... more »

We bring our college students, especially those in theatre, to see Shakespeare performed with understanding, energy, and imagination that is unsurpassed in my experience. Seeing actors work in repertory gives audiences a clearer sense of the nature of acting. The openness with which actors have ... more »

I can scarcely believe that I did not train at Shakespeare and Company before I did. I've trained with some very fine institutions, but participating (not just learning!) in the innovative work and positive, constructive approach to developing ourselves as theater artists--while we quite literally ... more »
