Mission

The mission of SF Connect is to mobilize residents and sectors for a stronger San Francisco. SF Connect is about engaged residents volunteering their talent and time for the City as well as innovative partnerships between the private, public and social (nonprofit) sectors.

Results to date:

San Francisco Connect, Inc. is one of the most innovative partnerships between a city, its residents and its sectors. SF Connect is a nonprofit inspired by the success of Project Homeless Connect, which has been adopted as a national model by 100 cities across the United States in addition to engaging 19,707 volunteers from San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Puerto Rico, Canada and Australia have also adopted Project Homeless Connect as a model towards ending homelessness.

Dariush Kayhan, San Francisco Connect Executive Director

Dariush Kayhan is the former Director of Housing and Homeless Programs at the San Francisco Department of Human Services. He managed programming in supportive housing, SRO housing, emergency shelter and administration of the city’s federal McKinney grant. He has served on multiple task forces coordinating the city’s multifaceted, interagency approach to homelessness and related housing policy. He has served in varying capacities with the Virginia Center for Housing Research, San Francisco’s Mayor’s Office of Housing and the San Francisco Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights. He did his graduate work at Virginia Tech University and holds a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. He is a recent recipient of the Public Managerial Excellence Award which honors outstanding City managers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovative spirit, consistent achievement and a commitment to excellence in local government.

Rebecca Mayer, San Francisco Connect Executive Assistant

Rebecca Mayer joined SF Connect in October 2006. She was previously employed at the government relations and lobbying firm, Platinum Advisors and in both the Policy and Scheduling offices for Mayor Gavin Newsom in San Francisco City Hall. Rebecca also worked as a fundraiser on the Newsom for Mayor campaign in 2003, for Care Not Cash in 2002, and before that for Mark Kennedy Shriver in Montgomery County, Maryland and interned for Senators Ted Kennedy and Dianne Feinstein on Capitol Hill. Rebecca is a graduate of the George Washington University in Washington DC and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Communications.
