Direct beneficiaries per year: 3500 individuals per month

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Pack produce bags, help bag rice, take in donated hams, answer the phone, give out food to families who call in, help the director get to homes and speaking engagements, help sort clothing, distributed food, work with school children

Geographic areas served: Carlisle, Mt. Holly Springs, Boiling Springs, Gardners, Plainfield, Middlesex, New Kingstown, and Carlisle Springs

Mission:

In response to God´s call to love one another, Project SHARE provides food, clothing, nutrition education and links to other community resources to empower people in need within the Greater Carlisle Area.

Results:

We have served 12600 households as of November in 2009; up 14% from last year. We have enthusiastic cooking classes for both recipient children and adults. 50 % of the households gross under $12,000 per year, and less than 1% have only public assistance as their income. Most are underemployed, and are without childcare and healthcare benefits. 33% are children.

I received help from Project Share or some form of it 1986 until 2005. It has been built on the back of Elaine Livas and all her hard work over the years. Consistently serving and supporting our community. I've volunteered for SHARE, but I'm also a community member who hears the great work of this organization. Once I met a woman on the street who said she had no formula for her baby. I got on my cell phone and called SHARE. She received what she ... more »
