Description: Kidpower "People Safety" skills prepare individuals to take charge of the emotional and physical safety of themselves and others. Our Positive Practice Teaching Method gives each participant the opportunity to be successful in practicing skills in contexts relevant to their lives. We teach participants how to set boundaries to build better relationships; to advocate effectively for the well being of themselves and others; to be powerful, respectful leaders, to stop most trouble before it starts through awareness, conflict resolution, and target denial; to manage their emotional triggers so that they can make wise choices; to be persistent in getting help; and, as a last resort, to use self-defense skills to escape from a dangerous situation

Target demographics: Kidpower serves people of all ages and abilities, especially children in need, individuals with disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 20,000

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Help promote our free website Library resources by telling everyone they know about what we have to offer; put a link to Kidpower on their own Facebook page, etc; make a presentation to their school or community organization about organizing a Kidpower workshop.
