Description: WILD is committed to building an international wilderness movement that inspires and assists people to protect and sustain wild nature in every country and cultural setting. “Wilderness” in this global context refers to the most intact, undisturbed natural areas, those last truly wild places that humans do not control and have not developed with roads or other industrial infrastructure. It encompasses but is not limited to designated wilderness under the U.S. 1964 Wilderness Act and the seven other countries around the world with national wilderness laws. By acting for wild nature at any scale – community, tribal, regional, national, corporate, international and individual – WILD is committed to enabling wilderness conservation in a variety of contexts and wherever wilderness safeguards and provides vital ecosystem services to all species, including humankind.
