Direct beneficiaries per year: Homeward Bound is Marin County's chief provider of shelter and residential services for homeless families and individuals, serving approximately 1,400 people per year in 14 inter-related residential programs.

Mission:
Founded in 1974, Homeward Bound of Marin seeks to end homelessness in our community with training, housing and hope. Our programs range from emergency shelter to permanent supportive housing and include services like counseling and job training that help residents build a sustainable, independent future.
Results:
Our residents have built an admirable record of success: in 2008-09, 95% of families served and 84% of adults completing our programs moved to stable housing.

I had the splendid opportunity to come to Homeward Bound with the Novato Leadership Class. I was given a tour of their kitchen facility and the gardens. I've been lucky enough to be involved in a couple of enriching events with Homeward Bound. First, my 3rd grader's class participated in a cooking/fundraising project and several other activities all to support the families and children that are served by HB.
