Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: spend time with our hounds in boarding - walking, playing, grooming and otherwise interacting with them, help out at a GALT fundraiser.

Mission:
Our Mission is to:
Assist all greyhounds, primarily those that are retired from or affiliated with the racing industry;
Facilitate placing greyhounds in loving, responsible, forever homes by operating an adoption center and rescue kennel owned by GREYHOUND ADOPTION LEAGUE OF TEXAS, INC., open to the public, where potential adopters are guided in choosing a greyhound that is right for them;
Educate the public about the desirability of adopting greyhounds as companions and family pets in the home;
Stress the importance of spay and neuter as a means of controlling the number of unwanted animals;
Support, welcome and encourage an active, organized volunteer base of greyhound lovers who share the passion and vision of finding loving, responsible, forever homes for greyhounds to live out their natural lives;
Provide continuing educational support to the greyhound's family after placement to ensure a successful adoption;
Connect with other groups and people that assist and adopt greyhounds to promote adoption worldwide; and most of all,
Enjoy the spiritual connection we all share with greyhounds and each other in loving and helping one of the most loving and loyal creatures put on this earth.

Results:
As of June 2011, GALT has assisted over 2000 greyhounds in finding their forever homes.

We adopted our Sweetie 4 yrs ago, from GALT. Since then we have adopted Johnny B and Barnaby. GALT is the most wonderful group of people in the Greyhound rescue organizations! They are always there for you, if you need assistance, they also are always finding ways to get everyone together for the ...

I recently adopted a rescue from GALT who was found abandoned in a trailer with 10 other greyhound and greyhound mixes. GALT does an amazing job of getting available dogs out at meet and greets, provide tons of information for new greyhound owners, and are generally warm and welcoming people. ...
