Target demographics: The shelter takes in cats and kittens from Marco Island, Isles of Capri, Goodland and nearby rural areas. Our other programs help cats and people all over Collier County, FL

Direct beneficiaries per year: We rescue and adopt approx. 250 cats and kittens per year and help over 100 families to keep their pets.

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Volunteer at the shelter on Marco Island for a shift which is about 2 hours every week. Trapping and transporting cats to and from the Collier Spay/Neuter Clinic on Immokolee Rd.

Mission:

Our mission is to end the cruelty of pet overpopulation by rescuing abandoned cats and kittens and sterilizing the feral and stray cat population in the community.

Results:

From our start in 2002 to the end of 2010, we have rescued over 2000 kittens and sterilized over 1500 adult cats in the community.

I must state first as I have in the past that this organization is one of the most well run I have ever encountered. A month after our cat passed away I visited For The Love Of Cats and after talking with Jan and Jim and interacting with the cats I chose Misti. She was about a year old and was abandoned.
