Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Volunteer for an Elixir event such as a Makeover Day or at an information table, or at one of our fundraisers. Volunteer for one of our affiliate hospitals.

Mission:
Improving the comfort and care of cancer patients and their caregivers. Our goal is to give patients and caregivers a break from cancer so that they may continue to live full and rich lives during treatment, which better prepares them for life after treatment.
Results:
In 2011 we established "Elixir Movies and Music" programs at the University of North Carolina Medical Center's Radiation Oncology Department, at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick Oncology Department, and at Jersey Shore Medical Center.
We helped to establish a weekly "High Tea" at RWJ New Brunswick. Thanks to donations from Zojirushi and Tetley Tea, patients are being offered tea and cookies in their hospital rooms each week.
In February we launched our "Bridges to Wellness" program which provides an interactive introduction to complementary therapies such as yoga, massage, and mediation. Such therapies have shown to help manage the side effects of treatment and reduce stress so that patients and caregivers are better able to handle the impacts of cancer treatment.
We are currently raising money so that we may create the "Elixir Wish List," a place where patients and caregivers can list, for friends and family, items that would be helpful to them during treatment such as grocery delivery, lawn care, child care, a massage, a manicure, etc.
