Description: Our five therapeutic programs are offered as group workshops and individual mentoring; music, art, writing, performing arts and cultural excursions, high-risk and at-risk youth learn to express themselves in a positive manner versus the destructive ways that they have in the past. We also bring thousands of these kids to free concerts, plays and other cultural events at premiere venues throughout the region. These field trips not only educate youth while exposing them to new types of music, theater and art, but also bring them relief and joy.

Create Now programs develop vital skills and build teamwork, self-esteem and confidence. In addition, we send out regular notices about jobs, internships, scholarships, free books, computers, arts supplies and other materials to the 1,200 partners in our network, such as shelters, group homes, detention camps and other youth agencies serving hundreds of thousands of needy youth.

Target demographics: We serve vulnerable kids ages 2-25 who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, orphaned, are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, substance abusers, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, gang members or incarcerated.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 3,000 of the neediest youth in the region

Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Teach creative arts to youth or help Create Now to grow as an organization to meet our goals.

Geographic areas served: All of Southern California - Counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego, Santa Barbara

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that transforms the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities.

Results:

Create Now has reached over 21,0000 of the most troubled youth in Southern California during the last 14 years.

I met Jill and learned of her work with Create Now only recently, and have placed her nonprofit at the top of my favorites. Many people I know have the gift to mentor but don't know where to start; her guidance and expertise are great contributions to get them started... more »

I'm a new volunteer in the art department and recently helped out at a family housing shelter. I worked with the kids to create a banner for their upcoming talent show and it really turned out well.
