Mission:
CoachArt was founded by Zander Lurie in memory of his father, Dr. Arthur "Art" Lurie, who passed away in 1996 after a 6-year battle with multiple myeloma. Dr. Lurie, a cardiac surgeon, devoted his life to the healing and wellness of his patients, and loved teaching and mentoring kids. CoachArt lessons are completely free of charge to the children and their families. Due to the physical, emotional and financial burdens that these families endure, CoachArt is providing a service that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. Our programs are about normalcy, giving these children a place where no one focuses on their illness ? where they are just normal kids learning about their favorite pastime. In this creative learning environment, they are able to regain self-esteem, social skills and independence that is lost while battling chronic illness.
