Cherry Street Mission Ministries
Mission:
More than 50 years ago Cherry Street Mission was founded by Christian businessmen and others to lend a helping hand to men who were hopelessly and helplessly lost in bondage to alcohol, essentially dropouts from society.
Today, the drug culture has brought a radical change in our clientele - younger men and now women also - but the problem basically is the same, poverty of spirit.
It is not enough to feed, clothe, provide beds and meet other basic necessities. Meeting the needs of a despairing spirit brings new hope and new life that changes the inner spirit and the motives of the heart. It inspires a person to look up and try again.
Men are served at CHERRY STREET MISSION and women at SPARROWS' NEST. All services are provided free of any charge.

Cherry St. Mission Ministries has had a 4-star rating with charity Navigator since the inception of this site. In 2010, with administration and development changes and oversights in fiscal allocation, the 2010 990 had fundraising costs inaccurately assessed, therefore our rating dropped to 2-stars. ...

I volunteer in the Education Center at Cherry Street Mission. Here we help guests prepare to take their GED tests. It is amazing to me to see how many people come in on their own to study, be tutored and take practice tests so they will be ready to take the GED test. These are people who really ...
