I worked for AWA last summer in villages and towns in South Africa. The experience was encourageing and the organization for the trip and work on the field was 100% complete and ready when needed. In addition people were taught and helped. Not just given something and then left to fend for ...   more

Mission

AWA exists to train the world’s poor to provide for themselves, and others.

Key Facts

Geographic areas served:

North America, South Africa

Results to date:

The effectiveness of our training programs are exceptional.  People gain confidence to start their own business, or have become cherished employees.  Couple this with those who are helped by our participants through hands on projects, and the growth is exponential.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Project goals to directly train 1000 people per year.

Indirect beneficiaries per year: 1000 people transferring the information to friends etc. is not able to be calculated. The reach goes far beyond our own ability, which is one of the training points in our classes.

Obstacles:

Logistical support is the biggest challenge.  The expenses involved to get the utterly poor to training and a project site are the biggest obstacles. Additionally, AWA could easily reach more people with a good advertising campaign recruiting volunteers to share their expertise in our areas of service.

What your donation will allow us to do:
Provide training for the utterly poor of the world. These people have little or no opportunities for resources that provide training that could be a way for them to feed their families and take care of the basic needs of shelter and clothing. After the basic needs are met, hope for the future becomes a reality.

Your donation of $20.00 enables us to:

Provide the materials and resources for a student to participate in the training program and provides meals for that day so they can concentrate on the material presented.

Your donation of $100.00 enables us to:

feed 100 children a nourishing meal, or fund work projects so students get hands on practice of a job skill that could get them employment, and also serve a need in their community.

Your donation of $1000.00 enables us to:

Fully fund one training day for 10 students, as well as provide materials for a hands on project in their community to provide things like water reclamation, elementary education, parental training and developing continuing educational resources.

Past and Current Funders:

AWA relies on donations from individuals and organizations, using 100% of donations toward projects and special donations for admin only.
