Mission: Our goal is to locate and serve the many children in cambodia who live in the poorest rural villages and do not have access to equitable educational opportunities.
Programs: Enrichment: includes five projects that make up enrichment. English: we taught 764 students english during the year and supported the teaching staff. Technology: we taught students computer skills as a central component of continuing education. The student population for the year in the technology program was 951. Events: during the year we took the students on field trips and held back to school events. Libraries: this included the training and support of librarians, the purchase of books and games. The number of students served by the library services was 1,828. Sports, music and art: we supported soccer, volleyball, and badminton teams with training and equipment. For music and art we support approximately 950 students with workshops to expand their exposure to music and the arts.
secondary school scholarships: students who leave primary school at grade 6 and want to continue to secondary school can apply for scholarships for attending secondary school. 128 students were provided scholarships during the year.
food & wellness program: this program provided breakfast, lunch and snacks to the students. During the year 560 students were served meals on a regular basis. Wellness, clean water is provided at rural schools to minimize the incidence of water borne disease. Hygiene is taught at rural locations and cleaning materials are provided. First aid supplies are provied to school nurses. This program helps to serve 1,580 students.
bikes: bicycles are awarded to graduating 6th graders so that they might transport themselves to secondary school, often quite far from their villages. Engelstoft school: plf is beginning to take over their computer and english classes, will merge into that project next year. Facility: repairs and improvements are made to school property, for example solar installations, toilets, libraries, playgrounds, etc. Dormitories plf operated two dormitories in the city for high school studentsmicrofunding venture capital for start up businesses, now completed. Motobikes motorbikes are provided to plf staff and some teacherssupplies/uniforms: 2,600 students are given school supplies and uniforms twice per year. Teacher support: 76 teachers are given salary subsidies, teaching supplies and offered continuing education coursesmiscellaneous: allocation of a portion of 2 administrative staffs salary to projects they oversee. Grants to others: plf provided umbrella or donated to various projects in 2014.
