The Placer SPCA has been so helpful in granting my husband and I discounts for spaying and neutering. We live across the street from a park and many people have dumped off cats there. These poor kitties show up at our back door; the last one was already pregnant. With the PSPCA's help, we have altered all the cats we could catch or trap; as a result we've adopted or found homes for many friendly ones, and we feed the altered ones too feral to be adopted. Without the help of the Placer SPCA, this wouldn't have been possible.

We are also donors; we donate money and goods for their thrift shop when we can because we feel a great debt to this terrific charity.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Receiving financial help to spay and neuter stray and abandoned cats.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

These people really care about Placer County's animals. I can't think of any changes.

We dealt with the PSPCA when adopting our new dog in June. The facility was well run and there was always staff and informed volunteers around to help guide us to find the perfect animal fit.

We were nervous about getting a new animal but the PSPCA had taken care of so much. For the
adoption fee the animal already had its vaccinations, microchip, been neutered and had it's behavior evaluated so we had the most information possible when going forward.

We now recommend this shelter to everyone and I would like to volunteer one day.

We continue to support the Placer SPCA because they do an outstanding job of using their resources wisely. We have watched this organization grow responsibly over the years and respond to the needs of the community with increasing programs and support. And with the financial struggles we have all been faced with in the recent years, this organization continues to implement creative and worthwhile solutions to serve the Placer County community best, without skipping a beat. I know great things will continue to happen for the animals and people of Placer County, with Placer SPCA leading the way!

We have supported the organization by donating money, purchasing items at their new thrift store, attending special events and most rewarding, adopting our lab mix just this past February.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create a larger space for the Roseville center as the surrounding communities have grown so substantially since it was first opened and warrant this change!

The Placer SPCA is an integral part of the community. They are involved in much more than just sheltering homeless and unwanted animals. Their spay and neuter programs are instrumental in reducing the overpopulation of pets in Placer County. They've received numerous grants and donations for this program and the money is well spent. The guardian angel program is also well received by the community and it's organizations. Throught grants and donations, animals that need medical treatment get it and become adoptable pets. These are just two of the many programs that the SPCA is involved with. They also educate the community about their programs and well as how to best to take care of their pets. They also have a staff educational person that shares the educational aspects of owning a pet with the local school children as well as hosting week long summer camp for numerous children.

Placer SPCA cares about animals and the people who adopt them into their families. Even "hard to place" animals find homes. While waiting to be adopted, volunteers spend many hours walking the dogs to make their stays as nice as possible. Staff is friendly and helpful and works hard to help the animals. They hold a number of fun "pet friendly" events not only to raise money but also to say "thank you" to volunteers and donors.

I have seen this organization help so many people and animals in the Placer County area. They've helped find many homes for animals in need, provided emergency healthcare services to strays and abandoned pets, helped low income pet owners provide necessary healthcare to their pets, provided education to children through their Critter Camp, etc. The organization is also managed by an incredible group of people who are known and greatly respected throughout out community. I love this organization and am proud to be able to help animals through them!

My spouse and I adopt old and/or ailing cats. It is hard to find other homes for them, and they always seem to be the happiest, most grateful creatures you'll ever be around. PSPCA does an excellent job of promoting their "tough to adopt" animals, and the staff members and volunteers always seem genuinely thrilled when one of those animals is adopted. At an open house at PSPCA years ago, they had a room in the front full of very senior cats. Guests were encouraged to play with the catt, who were not in cages and were surrounded by toys. I ended up with a wonderful old man cat named Max. A friend adopted a female who was 17 - and the cat just died at age 23.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The genuine caring shown by volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

sometimes a big gruff, but understandably so givenn what they are dealing with every day. Unfortunately the general public doesn't know that, so it may be a bit off-putting.. Usually though they are all friendly and they are always knowledgable.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
