I have begun the volunteer process at Placer SPCA and it has been nothing short of spectacular. All of the staff and full time volunteers have been extremely helpful and have made sure all of the new volunteers understand all parts of the shelter, not just being able to take animals out. They have educated us about how and why the shelter receives animals, the screening and review process and their plans for expansion to better serve the county. I have volunteered at other animal shelters and feel very lucky to be a part of Placer SPCA

I have been volunteering at the Placer SPCA now for 7 months and I absolutely love it! I've wanted to volunteer since I adopted my first dog, Nike, when I was 15. Now that I am older and have had some free time on my hands, I cannot be happier to finally be a volunteer! The staff here is phenomenal and I have learned so so much in such a short amount of time. I can proudly say that I am ADDICTED to being at the shelter and being surrounded by so many great people and animals. The Placer SPCA rocks!

make more out of the shelter activities such as PetMobile so that more animals can be shown and adopted into their forever home.

I have been volunteering with the Placer SPCA for almost 2 years. I have enjoyed working on the Pet Mobile at various events, as well as, tabling events at the local mall. During this time, not only have I been able to help cats and kittens get adopted, I have been able to answer questions the public have regarding spay/neuter programs, adoptions, becoming a volunteer, opportunities to help foster animals in need. I have helped people become aware that we have a facility in Roseville, California with a wide selection of cats, kittens and dogs just waiting for a forever home. I have handed out maps to our facility and later found those people looking for their future companion at the facility when I get back from volunteering on the Pet Mobile. These animals are all good, loving animals and our organization strives to match the animals personality with the owner's lifestyle so they are both happy. I am very happy to be affiliated with an organization that cares about the animals and the owners.

It is a great feeling when you see the animal go home with someone who genuinely wants the animal. It feels great when you see the animal bond with the new owner. You know they both are going to be happy.

I wish we had more volunteers to get even more exposure to our animals and the programs we offer and to be able to spend one on one time with all the animals. I wish that we could get some of the businesses to help advertise us at their sites. Perhaps get some free advertising regarding our events through free radio and tv ads and newspaper ads.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

I am pretty satisfied with my experiences with Placer SPCA. I just wish we could get some free advertising exposure for our events. I think that would make even more people aware of our facility.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Yes, it has made me realize that are so many great animals who just need a little help finding new homes. Without these people, they would be euthanized.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

I feel very good when I know I have helped a homeless animal find a home that will love and appreciate him/her.

I have recently become a volunteer at the Placer County SPCA and I chose to do so for a couple of reasons.

My first reason is because of the way that they screen applicants to find good homes for their animals. I was looking to adopt several years ago and felt as a patron that the process
was very thorough.

I also find the facilities to be very clean for the sake of the animals and patrons.

I like the fact that they don't euthanize the animals that come in unless they are found to not be adoptable. Even the sick or injured get a chance to a new home.

Very caring with finding homes for kittens, puppies, cats, dogs and rabbits. I especially like the fact that the PSPCA is a non-kill shelter and they always try to find homes for older animals that other wise would be destroyed. I highly recommend them!

The Placer SPCA consistently goes above and beyond my expectations.
It's always clean, and the staff are always super nice and helpful. They always do all they can to help the animals I foster, whether sick or unsocial, and provide me all the support I need to succeed.

one of my cats was in there for a whole year before I adopted her, and she's the best cat ever, they never gave up on her

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give the cats bigger cages/ rooms/ runs that would provide them with enrichment and showcase them better.

I foster cats & kittens for SPCA. It's the most amazing organization I have ever known. They really care, the pets no matter what the circumstances are, being feral, injured, not so cute & not so friendly, these people try their hardest to fix it & find them good homes. The staff there always goes the extra mile to get them into foster homes that are best for them, so they can be the bets.
i have been a volunteer for over 5 years & it's the best thing I have ever done.

Volunteering, I weigh cats & kittens every Monday, the loss of 10 percent or more is vital to the health of a cat or kitten.
