I attended Philanthro's most recent event, Stupid Cupid: the silent date auction. After interacting with a few volunteers, I was drawn to the organization. Learning more about it, I found it to be such a successfully organized, well-oiled machine. The volunteers make sure to have fun while doing their work, and due to them serving on a volunteer-basis, they are willfully sacrificing time and efforts for this organization.

To be honest, I was a little intimidated and surprised by everyone's dedication to the organization, but for me, that was a green flag. If the volunteers truly love their work and don't mind their sacrifice, then Philanthro must be doing something right.

Right now, I'm in the process of learning more about Philanthro in hope of becoming a volunteer!

I was first introduced to Philanthro via the San Francisco Chapter and immediately thought their ideas on how to introduce and connect young adults with philanthropy was ingenious. I just knew it could work in Seattle as well. It wasn't long after that when I received a message from the former co-President of the SF Chapter informing me that a Seattle Chapter was in the works. I jumped at the chance to become involved with this group of motivated and intelligent individuals with the hopes of helping out the local community and its non-profit organizations through volunteering and events. I also enjoy the transparency of Philanthro and most importantly, the creativity and ability to cultivate and nurture new ways to connect to our audience. I know where Philanthro stood when started out on this venture, and I am excited to see where we take it, as one.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing, hearing and reading the enthusiasm with which every Philanthro member approaches the task at hand. It's both comforting and motivating to me personally to know that other people my age, with similar lifestyles are devoting time in their busy lives to such selfless, beneficial acts.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Perhaps create more of a new chapter blueprint in order to make it easier for new chapters to become involved and spread the word.

I work for a private foundation and have been a philanthropy professional for more than 8 years. I learned of Philanthro through a friend who sent me a Facebook invitation to one of the events. I attended Philanthro's events and was completely blown away by the quality, the organization, the awareness they raised for the charity, and the energy. I looked for a friend connection on Facebook to learn more about Philanthro. After learning more, I just had to join and be a part of the Philanthro movement. Philanthro re-energized me on the power and possibilities of philanthropy.

Philanthro is creating the template for the future of philanthropy. It's not just writing a check or attending an event. Philanthro creates a connection platform for young professionals to meet each other and give back to to the community by using their talents, networks, and energy.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The number of people that have attended events but also the follow up interest after the event. Although Philanthro has also raised a lot of money for charities, the number of people who also wants to get involved has been the most impressive.

The organization has been great in reflecting in what can be improved upon. There is an annual retreat and meetings are on a weekly basis. Event-related and operational issues are always immediately addressed.

I have been recently in contact with the members of Philanthro Seattle. My business will help support their mission in every way that it can. The people with Philanthro are so amazing and easy to work with. I can't wait for our future engagements!

Being a part of Philanthro has allowed me to fulfill my desire to inspire others to make philanthropy a part of their lives. Coming together with a group of 20 likeminded young professionals every week and working on building a platform to help non profits connect with young professionals has given me a renewed sense of purpose and helped me grow as an individual.

Everything from volunteering directly with non-profits to planning how to best reach out and encourage others to join us has been an amazing experience.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way that I look at how individuals can make a difference. I've always believed that philanthropy could be a part of anyone's life but it has now become something extremely tangible.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

delve more into making the organization accessible. I can feel a change towards this already though, so I'm excited to see the future of Philanthro!

I was always involved in volunteering one way or another as a youth, in high school groups or in church groups. As an adult in a busy world of work and life, volunteering has fallen down on my list. Then Philanthro came along and now I see myself trying to better myself and the world around me in nearly everything I do! Philanthro, thanks so much for the inspiration to live a better life and to encourage so many other young professionals to get active in their communities again!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the fact that letting people know what we are about, they also become excited to get involved. Then hearing from the non-profit organizations that we sponsor that we are one of the most passionate and well-organized groups means a lot!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

organize a volunteer event once a month, but we're getting there I think!

I've always known that there are those less fortunate than me out there. I've always wanted to make a difference some day. I've always seemed to find ways to put off that someday. And I believe that many of my peers out there can identify with those statements.

Being a young professional,
I was once guilty of wanting to contribute to positive changes in my community but never acting on it. Being involved with Philanthro Seattle has been the first real, tangible step I've taken in giving back to the world around me. Ultimately, this in itself reflects back on Philanthro's culture of doing, not talking.

And we do a lot. As a 100% volunteer based organization, officers and staff spend 10+ additional hours a week (on top of jobs, relationships etc) to put together events that bring awareness to causes, profit for charities, and excitement and inspiration towards living a philanthropic lifestyle.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the excitement, pride and inspiration present on Philanthro's members faces after every meeting, getting consistently positive feedback from our non-profit partners about the rarity of our enthusiasm and passion, gathering continued interest and support from our peers for Philanthro Seattle.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make it a more dominating presence in the philanthropic scene so that everyone will know the name Philanthro and what we stand for.

Philanthro has filled that void in my life that left me feeling a bit unfulfilled. This organization has provided me with an opportunity to not only engage my community, but to do it with talented friends and peers who share similar beliefs. It has been an amazing journey so far and I have nothing but high hopes and expectations that great things will come out of this relationship. Young professionals alike could all use a little nudge, and I believe that Philanthro can be that force.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Meetings with my team members. As we begin to develop plans, it's obvious that there's a lot of thought and consideration that goes into the decisions that we make. We challenge each other to be critical about why we believe the approach we take is appropriate and aren't afraid to try and fail, only to learn and succeed the next time soon and quicker.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Develop a mentoring program that helps foster continued growth and education internally. As we increase our maturity and sophistication, we can then build on that to further expand across other regional areas.

Philanthro throws extremely well-organized and fun events with extraordinarily good looking people!

They help out charities that provide innovative solutions to communities and are also transparent and efficient.

Great way to connect to worthy causes and network with quality young
professionals.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their Tri-City event benefited Pencils of Promise who will build an actual school in Nicaragua with the proceeds. They've helped numerous charities like KIVA, Susan G Komen, Invisible Children, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Homeboy Industries - all with zero overhead!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make them be present in every city in the U.S.
