PHILADELPHIA PROTESTANT HOME

I would compare The Philadelphia Protestant Home to Walt Disney World!
Not in the entertainment sense (although they absolutely provide plenty of entertainment to the residents) but in the sense of how well it is managed. I have worked within the confines of the Philadelphia Protestant Home and other facilities throughout the region at various hours of the day, and must say no matter which employee of the Philadelphia Protestant Home that I have encountered or observed, they were polite, caring and hard working. It is this parallel that I draw with Disney World, an extremely clean and SAFE, facility with some of the most courteous people around. I have recommended the Philadelphia Protestant Home to many of my friends families as well as my own, and will continue to do so.
Keep up the good work!

Add a pool, that's right they already have one! Add an ice cream polar, that' right they already have one of those also! a reflection pond? They have that covered also. How about trips to the sea shore, nope, they also have them....well, I guess that I wouldn't change a thing, sometime change is not necessary!
We discovered The Philadelphia Protestant home when my late Mother was sent there for therapy following one of several fractures.
She had the opportunity to stay at quite a few rehabs as she aged & her Parkinson's disease progressed.
PPH always was a cut above any of the facilities she stayed in.
The caring attitude of the staff was evident from the first day.
The "above & beyond" was just normal procedure at this wonderful facility.
When it came time for Mom to enter a nursing home, the decision was easy. PPH became her home for 2 years & til the very end Mom received exemplary care.
I will never forget the loving care that one aid showed Mom hours
before she passed. This loving women came into Mom's room following the shift change & knew immediately what was going on.
She suggested giving Mom a sponge bath to comfort her. I held Mom
as she lovingly washed her.
This is a loving memory that brought ME immeasurable comfort after
she passed.

In the five years that I worked at the Philadelphia Protestant Home, I was fortunate to get to know the place, satff and residents well. PPH shines in many ways with a beautiful facility, friendly, smiling residents, caring staff and many helpful volunteers. There really is a sense of home, and family with so many people working together towards keeping PPH a safe and positive enviroment for it's residents.

I was introduced to the Philadelpia Protestant Home approximately 8 years ago at their annual golf tournament. After attending several of these events, I was asked to join the Board of Directors. Prior to joining the PPH Board, I had never been on a Board for a CARF/CCAC. I had alot of learning to do on the issues that face this type of organization. After being on the Board for several years, I really understood their mission and vision for the home. The managment team of PPH were very congniscent of their residents needs daily. They listened to their residents and continued to strive to provide their residents with the best independent, assist-living and nursing home care in the community they served. PPH strived to deliver services and programs that were unique to their residents. I truly appreicated the fact that managment met with residents and discussed any issues that were important to them. The residents and management at PPH had a very mutually benefiical relationship.
Due to illness, I had to resign from the Board of PPH and I must say that I miss the residents and staff regularly.
Thank you,
Debra Eckenhoff
