I am one of the Volunteers who delivers pet food to the Ill. disabled, and financial strap once a month. Since I started almost a year ago I have made some nice new friend /people. They appreciate the food and the Pets do too.
The Hidden Treasures thrift shop supporting "Pet Project for Pets "has great finds and the other volunteer are very nice people and assist the shopper in finding the deals
The Other events like doggie pool parties and dog wash are fun and well attended

I have been volunteering with Pet Project for about a year now helping with publicity outreach. I have worked with numerous non profit organizations and Pet Project has the most heart of any of them. I have never seen so many people so dedicated to their cause. It is such an important organization that helps so many people and I am very proud to be a part of it.

I was introduced to The Pet Project for Pets through St. Francis Church...a parishioner was looking for a temporary foster home for his cat because he had to go into the hospital. The Pet Project found a temporary home, unfortunately this person did not come out of the hospital and Pet Project found a new home for the cat. This cat was kept out of the shelter system and possible euthanasia. They also provided vaccinations free of charge so this cat would remain healthy in her new home.
I worked in the shelter system locally for years and am very aware of how many animals are put to sleep on a daily basis. It is truly heart shredding.. In many cases there are no other alternatives except to surrender.
I can't imagine having to give up a "family member " . It is a proven statistic that our pets keep us healthy and to not have my pet when I returned home is unimaginable.
The Pet Project for Pets fills a badly needed void in the system that has for the most part been totally ignored. They provide food, vet care and temporary foster care .
I now volunteer...I have been fostering a male cat named Charlie for 3 months after his owner was violently broken into and his apartment destroyed...he himself is living in a shelter trying to get back on his feet...he will get his precious pet back when ready.
The Pet Project for Pets fills a need for our community that no one else does.

Pet Project For Pets was instrumental in keeping my dog Rudy and me together when no one else was able to help us. it is the best organization "that helps keeps pets in their homes" and can't say enough great things about Sue Martino, Felix, Joel and all the volunteers that help out at all the events and the thrift store!!! There are over 1000 pets that are able to still be a family in their homes that's to Pet Project mine being included!!! God Bless Sue and the whole organization. That's why I'm not only a client but a volunteer as well :-) all the best always, Michael and Rudy!!Z, ruff ruff ruff

We have donated to pet Project for Pets and are very happy with seeing our money put to goods use.
Those who are homebound or suffering with HIV need the support this non-profit offers, pet food is paid for, vet bills are taken care of and most importantly pets are kept with the owners they know and love and NOT put into shelters simply because a loving owner is struggling. That this is a benefit to their clients health and well being is a fact that is not stressed enough. With the tough economy that we have had, many more families have had the need for services and the folks who work and volunteer at The Pet Project for Pets really care and are willing to do what it takes to keep pets with those who love and cherish them. A one of a kind, great organization! Keep up the good work!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Encourage even more fundraisers!

I cant rate this agency as a 0 star, so I am forced to rate it as a 1 star. I am a former client of PP4P and when I found out they got rid of Henry Laster that was the best volunteer this agency ever had to their name I immediately told them to cancel my services. Henry Laster really knew how to treat someone. He always returned phone calls unlike the Executive Director Sue Martino. She never returns any phone calls. Henry used to work 7 days a week until his former roommate in Oakland Park, FL. got to them. Henry was a great Client Services representative. I have told many other people that I know to stay away from this agency. They have also stolen property that belonged to Henry Laster such as a netbook, a laptop, digital camera, digital converter box for TV's, antenna's for TV's, a DVD player. DVD's, money, amongst other things. When he called to get his stuff the staff person by the name of Maggie Martino aka Sue Martino's lover told him that none of his sh*t(her exact words)was there. Then he called back and asked to speak with Sue Martino herself and there was a person by the name of Felix DeBruin that answered the phone and he told Henry Laster that he was no longer a client, he was never to step foot on the property again or he would be arrested, and they never want to see him again.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Bring Henry Laster back and make him a vital part of the agency. He needs to be on the board as well as a paid staff member. If you want to get in touch with Henry please look him up on linked in or Facebook.

I am the Executive Director for Pet Project for Pets since 2009. The invaluable work that we do for our clients and their pets is immeasurable. We provide pet food, pet supplies and pet medications and vaccines to those individuals who are financially challenged due to illness, disability, aging, economy so that they can KEEP THEIR PETS. It is amazing when clients pick up their pet food and supplies and tell us their stories of how much we have helped them in their lives. They are so grateful for our services. Imagine being diagnosed with a terminal illness and you now have to choose between your own medication or feeding your beloved pet companion...or imagine being that pet who now will have to be surrendered to a shelter and live in a cage wondering what they did wrong...this is what we at Pet Project for Pets make sure does not happen. We keep pets and their humans happily together in their own homes thus preserving the so important Human / Animal bond.

i helped with a bake sale to help raise money to help buy medicine and food for the pets. In this bake sale i heard lots of people say to me how great the pet project for pets has helped them keep there animals.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how the pet project for pets can help people keep there animals.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

love to see more volunteers so we can help raise funds, so people can keep there animals

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to see people keep there best friends "animals"

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very caring staff and volunteers

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It would help alot of people keep there animals

Ways to make it better...

if i could see everyone bring there pets

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

sometimes not being able to help every animal

One thing I'd also say is that...

that the pet project for pets do help lots of people. wonderful nonprofit orginization

I found out about Pet Project for Pets at a parking lot sale. After a short time of checking it out I found it to be an excellent charity. They're helping a lot of people who if we didn't help would lose their animal(s). That's the main reason I volunteer. I was in a situation a short time ago where I had to figure out how to keep my dog. I wish I had known about an organization like this then.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how our clients come in with their animals and they are smiling. It's one less worry for those who would have possibly had to give their pet away.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Helping people that love animals as much as I do.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Super. They care. They give of themselves so unselfishly

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

take care of a lot more animals
