The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is a trusted partner in riverfront trail development and the development of community based initiatives in the rivertowns of Allegheny County. Work to date includes technical assistance on a 26 mile trail study; the creation of a Rivertowns project that examines opportunities with organizations and small governments of communities that border our rivers and assistance with the completion of the Great Allegheny Passage within Allegheny County. (A 350 mile trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland Maryland and then to Washington, DC). Additionaly, PEC has provided technical support and partnerships in the development of an education green roof project, rain gardens and educational programming that focuses on stormwater mitagation through downspout diconnect training to professions and Green Roof Breakfast educational sessions for building owners, municipalities and engineers.
