This is the 2nd summer my daughter, Francesca, has been in this program; it is such a wonderful program. Francesca enjoyed every single day there and always tells me what she did at the program. She got the opportunity to explore into more areas than what we can provide to her at home. This summer, she was exposed to the subject of psychology for the first time and was so excited about it...I think she may have found another subject she really loves besides mathematics. Also new this summer was a parent education seminar which I thought was truly helpful. To top it all off, everything was provided for free! I feel very fortunate to have Francesca in this program and we look forwards to returning next summer!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that their program is enriching at the same time interesting. The students all seem to enjoy going everyday.

Ways to make it better...

perhaps there was an orientation for returning students (like the one for incoming 6th grades).

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not many heard of this program.

It was very fun to be at Peninsula Bridge as a teacher aide in math. During the past three summers I was a bridge student as well for my 6th and 7th grade. This was a great program to be in because the classroom settings and teachers enjoyed one to learn in a fun away. It also allowed students to have a head start for next year. I t was most statisfing for me to be at the Peninsula Bridge Program.

I like that they provide summer school for these kids at no cost because there are a lot of us that can't afford it. My daughter loves this program and I like that it's not just academic but it's a lot of interactions with the other kids because going into middle-school is hard enough. Giving them this opportunity to move on into high school with a little bit more than most kids have behind them..confidence...how to deal with things a little bit better...how they're talking about college now so it's not just us running our mouths, it's them. It's teaching them ways that they can apply for colleges and scholarships and what they have to do. She loves it. And I pick up two other kids every day and they love it and I get a report every day.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

they have a parent program now. We were able to learn how to communicate with our kids and what to expect. The thing I really like about it is I've been with most of these kids since kindergarden so we're all kind of doing it together. At the end, they had the kids come so we had a day when we were in there with the kids but that and...it's just very positive. There's kids up here being crappy but they don't allow it as opposed to school where they sometimes allow it. They let you know how you're going to behave and they're correcting your behavior...

I'm an English T.A. at the bridge program and it has been an amazing experience! The students evolve personally and academically and the teachers are passionate, amazing people. It is an amazing program that enables students to excel in school and life. Not only do they learn academic lessons, but also life lessons! Overall, the program has a conductive atmosphere that is conducive to all kinds of growth, and the bond between the students, T.A's, and the teachers is amazing!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way they students talk, and interact with each other. I have also seen improvement through the assessments that are given at the beginning and the end of the program. Each student improves in at least one aspect: personally or academically.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

keep the program the way it is. Everything is just as great as it could be.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Working with the kids is amazing!!!!!! i have gotten so close to them and overall i have just had an amazing time here!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing, social, enthusiastic people who are committed to helping all of the students here!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

have many more locations and it could affect so many more students who are in need!

Ways to make it better...

i can't really think of a way that the program could be improved. It is personal and lots of fun!!!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

it's financial needs. not to an extreme need; however all of the students here attend without paying money and the program supports everything; therefore, it needs the support to go on!

One thing I'd also say is that...

this program is one that should definitely continue!

Peninsula Bridge does an incredible job of preparing youth from underserved neighborhoods along the 101 corridor of the SF Peninsula to be successful when they enter high school. They do this with a commitment to teach the basics of math and English while providing a rich program that is fun and interesting for the students. The organizers, site directors, teachers, mentors and everyone else who is involved are passionate about their mission and do a tremendous job of making the students feel cared for.

The Great!

My name is Georgina Ruiz and my daughter's name is Daisy Alvarado. She was in the Peninsula Bridge program last year, and this is her second year. I would like to write about the tremendous impact the Peninsula Bridge Program has had on my daughter's life. She was very happy while in the program and she really loved the ways the teachers interacted with her. The teachers and site director were very knowledgeable--very caring, loving, and kind. She learned a lot. I was amazed how she learned big words, like all the muscles in the body. She learned those words last year, but she still remembers them and uses them. She also could not wait to come back all through the year after she finished the program; she was always talking about coming back to the program. She was so excited to come back to the program that she couldn't even sleep the night before the first day. She also was really encouraged to improve, and got very motivated in her life after attending the program.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my daughter: her horizons were broadened by the program. She used to want to be a scientist; now she is thinking of being a doctor. She feels like she has options. Her grades have also improved since she started the program, and she now loves trying to always do better in school.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the feeling that Daisy will be able to make it on her own.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind, generous, knowledgeable.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

open more sites, upgrade to help kids throughout high school and not just middle school, provide more scholarships for students to transfer to the independent schools that the program operates out of if admitted, offer a parental education program to assist parents in learning how to make their children's educations as good as they can be and learn how to talk with teachers.
