I got involved in this great organization to help as a volunteer. Walking dogs, help grooming, training and fostering when needed. I also adopted a dog from Pekes & Pals. I have owned many dogs but this dog is the best dog ever! I believe that dogs know they've been saved from being euthanized. Pekes & Pals is a no kill shelter, specializing in dogs under 20 pounds. Age is never a factor. Young or old, blind or deaf, its a life! Cages are never used. Dogs are able to run freely. Abandoned to Adored!

I have been involved in animal rescue for over 10 years, and wish more groups were like Pekes & Pals. They deal predominately smaller dogs (under 20 lbs.), but do occasionally have a larger dog. The dogs are housed at private homes, never in cages. This is a no-kill rescue. I know of dogs who are deemed "unadoptable" due to various conditions/ behaviors that have been with Pekes & Pals for over 5 years. Even though young, healthy, dogs are easier to adopt out, This group specializes in special needs dogs. Many are seniors, blind, or have other illnesses. They all receive the necessary vet care. When it comes time for adoption, the people must provide references for a vet and other people. If everything else checks out, an appointment is made to meet the dog(s). The main point: THE DOG CHOOSES THE HUMAN! The motto of this group is ABANDONED TO ADORED, an this is the truth.
