I am a colleague of the the Executive Director and can speak to her personal commitment to the Pegasus Foundation and to helping Military men and women.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...reach out and help more of our soldiers who are in emotional distress. The Pegasus Foundation provides support for those who would otherwise not receive appropriate care.

Pegasus referred a client to me needing help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This Veteran had to wait several months to be seen through the system and "fell through the cracks." I was delighted to take this client on and help until they found a doctor at the VA. This is a much needed non-profit in two areas the public doesn't want to hear about: Post-Traumatic Stress and Domestic Violence.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I wanted to donate to an organization that worked in the area of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. These Veterans need help when they come home. I wanted to help but I don't have the professional degrees, and I don't have the guts to hear what Veterans went through. This way I know I can help them get the help they need with the mental health professionals that can help.

As a member of the Board of Directors, I can say that I am very pleased with the way Pegasus handles their charitable contributions. The Books are available at any time for individuals to view. Also, the staff is an all Volunteer staff, so you know your donation goes directly to meet the needs of our Veterans. The IRS said to Pegasus over the phone "We are doing a great job" concerning compliance.

The efficiency with which the organization is run. Unless otherwise stated by the donor,100% of funds given by the public are spent directly on the needs of the Veterans.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very professional and kind with no judgement or stigma attached to needing to reach out for help.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Hie disabled Veterans and Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Ways to make it better...

We did not have to experience the sadness we feel in having to turn away Veterans because of lack of funds. We would like to help them all.

I took Pegasus' course on "Post Traumatic Stress from an Officer's Perspecitve" and all I can say is Where was this information 4 years ago? The course instructor had PTSD personally and described EXACTLY what I was going through. The course covered a lot of material I didn't know, like how to get what you need from the medical profession from an insider's perspective. The course taught how to get professional help without everything going in your jacket. There is a middle ground where you can get help without looking weak.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing PTSD as a part of leadership that needs to be handled.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very friendly, non judgemental, and knowledgable in their subject.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Save a lot of military men and women from suffering needlessly.

I took Pegasus' seminar on Domestic Violence. The information they gave was very "hands on" information I could take home and begin using immediately. It was not just a bunch of statistics on Power Point. The Executive Director is an incredible speaker and had us role play several situations so we would get comfortable with the skills we needed to start changing our domestic violence problems. This nonprofit does really valuable work using their donations very efficiently. That's why I give to Pegasus!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

How nonjudgemental everyone was. The Executive Director came from a home with Domestic Violence and she herself dated abusive boyfriends. The course was written from her experience and it really helped me.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Nice and friendly! They were also very concerned with maintaining our privacy, which was nice.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Save the world!

Ways to make it better...

I never had to go because of domestic violence in the first place.

I was really having trouble with nightmares, jumping at everything, drinking too much. All the volunteers and the Executive Director were great. They helped me understand why my mind and body were acting like it was. I thought I was going crazy. They helped me get a plan on which doctors to see and what to do if I freaked out at work so I could stay employed. Without Pegasus I probably would have been fired about 4 times. Pegasus's course should really be taught on all military bases. I wish I had had the information they gave me years ago. They are nice people, an all volunteer staff, and went the extra mile for me.

The Great!

They knew exactly what I was going through. The Executive Director had been diagnosed with PTSD and had personal experience in the frustrations I felt. I didn't feel crazy anymore.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Really kind, nice people that cared whether I got help and was doing better.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

One of my buddies was back from deployment and in a lot of pain with jaw and neck injuries. At the time, the VA had to put him on a two month wait to see a doctor because they were so backed up. Pegasus really went to bat for my friend. They found him a physician to treat him until his appointment at the VA opened up. Pegasus also got him an appointment with a pain management specialist to treat his pain, which was the worst part of the whole thing. All the people at Pegasus were really nice and cared about us as Veterans.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Helping them help my friend who fell through the cracks of the system.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They really cared and showed concern for my friend and helped him IMMEDIATELY with a strategy to get help, which seemed to help him tolerate the pain he was in better. NO RED TAPE!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Kind, caring, very proactive in solving problems and efficient in doing so. They don't take a salary and work really hard to help our veterans.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Hire disabled veterans and be understanding with their PTSD. That's one of their long term goals.

Ways to make it better...

They could help more people.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Need more Board of directors to help with the work load.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Executive Director is very careful with bookkeeping. The books are available at any time for the general public to look at.
