Fantastic organization that not only helps individuals in Central America, but also educates local healthcare providers so that they may continue to care for their population themselves. I cannot recommend CHISPA (formally PFCAC) enough!

I am an emergency medicine physician and had the opportunity to volunteer with Pediatricians for Central America's Children. The team came from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, but they all shared the same desire to help the people of central america and specifically El Salvador. The people we met were very grateful for our assistance and education. The medical personnel of El Salvador from local health care facilitators to physicians were welcoming as well. If you have a desire to volunteer time, money, and/or experience, PFCAC's is a well organized and worthy nonprofit to investigate further.

I was lucky enough to join PFCAC on their journey to El Salvador this past November, 2010. I was one of the members of the 'Women's group' and we had such a rewarding experience working with the women and young girls in El Salvador. We are all 'hooked' and looking forward to our next trip in April & then November 2011.
The trip was well organized and we had great support from the 2030 club in Brentwood as well as their national leadership. We could not have done it without the amazing support of all the Peace Corps Volunteers on the ground in ES. They had done so much of the 'prep work' that it made our work so much easier and meaningful. They are the most amazing group of young people I have met.

El Salvador. The different communities we went to were so grateful and happy to see all of us. They appreciated all our hard work and efforts. This was obvious in how welcoming they were and that they have already asked us to come back and are presently planning various events for health promotion on our return.

I would love to be able to set up some way to get regular funding for the group to carry out the many projects we are and plan to do in the future.
Please see my blog at PFCAC.org. It explains my daily experiences when I volunteered in November 2010
