Dedicated, efficient, caring people make PCRF effective as a non-profit that puts 80% donated money towards research that has developed giant strides in cancer treatment and cures. The programs PCRF has given to are leading the way towards a better life for cancer patients. To see the joy in these children's faces as they are able to resume a natural life is the ultimate reward.

My son at age 11 was diagnosed with ALL, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common form of childhood leukemia. In the fall, he will attend UC Santa Barbara. His survival and opportunity to give back are the direct result of the research dollars generated by PCRF and like-minded organizations dedicated to wiping out childhood cancer... can you dream a better dream? Thank God for the vision and goal of PCRF.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The survival rates for childhood cancer.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to expand it's fund raising reach beyond the Southern California area.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The cause and giving back to a cause that saved my son's life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Selfless. Deadicated to a cause beyond question.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

End the suffering of kids and parents. No child should have to endure this.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time and energy to commit. I have not done enough...so much left to do!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The limits of time and resources... especially in this economy.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We cannot grow weary until this dreaded killer is history. I pray for the day PCRF is no longer needed!

I am a nurse with greater than 25 years experience caring for children with cancer in some capacity. I have been involved over the course of these years as a volunteer for PCRF since its inception. PCRF is a grassroots organization that has kept the spirit of “it’s for the kids” forefront in their fundraising efforts. They strive to raise awareness of the need to find a cure for all types of childhood cancer through research. Enormous strides have been made in survival rates for these children through the efforts of PCRF to turn research dollars into bedside treatments. My entire family has had the opportunity to volunteer at their fundraising events such as the golf tournament, auction, roundup, and run/walk. PCRF is made up of a wonderful group of staff and volunteers with big hearts that motivate their efforts to raise funds to cure this special group of wonderful children.

I love the phrase from Board member, John Vallely, who says, "When we cure cancer, we'll find something else to do with our time. . . .," until then, we give our time, thoughts and energy to this cause. John and Karen lost their daughter to cancer. More than a third (probably more) of our Board members have a child who has been lost to or is a survivor of cancer, still, all of us try to do whatever we can to find the finds to defeat this disease.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the attitude; it is truly without ego--do whatever we can.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fantastic; makes it the special organization that it is.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

take on so many more cancer types to fund more research in so many places to impact children in the U.S. and all over the world.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial hurdles in tough economy; uniquely this organization funds research in a whole host of pediatric cancer segments.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I want this organization to win the fight against cancer.

Of all the organizations that I have done volunteer work for, PCRF has the most dedicated, organized, focused, effective & efficient staff They help volunteers like myself realize how important it is to emotionally help these children & families that are coping with this disease, to give them a feeling of hope. And they do this in fun & creative ways through their events that bring much needed joy and activity to all family members. Making PCRF near & dear in my heart.

It has been a pleasure to see PCRF grow in the past 25 years from just a few parents and concerned citizens trying to raise money for pediatric cancer research to a major foundation. PCRF volunteers are matchless!

My wife and myself have been involved with PCRF/CHOC in Irvine since 1996. We have seen first hand how the money our club raised was used for research and the results of that research. One of our members daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer and we were with her through all of the wonderfull care she got and after three years she was in remission. That was ten years ago. I ahve no way of expressing the love those people show the families and children other then to continue our support. Dr. & Mrs. Patrick M. Collins, PhD

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

we see the monies raised in action, whether it be the care the children recieve or the way the families are assisted through the terrible process of dealing with a child with cancer
