Payatas Mission was planned and orchestrated by Jack and Malou Wilson. Payatas is the central location for refuse dump for Manila. The people of Payatas scavenge through the garbage to survive. Payatas provides hope for the people of Payatas who like the garbage they sift through, thought they had been thrown away by society and not cared for. Payatas Mission has brought back hope to the people of Payatas by providing spiritual, emotional, and physical support. Medicines and foods are in constant need and Payatas Mission has limited resources. Payatas provides as much support as possible with limited resources. That is why my wife and I give what we can to help this mission help these people that basically, society has thrown in with their garbage. I ask anyone who may read this to reach into pocket and give if you can. The free medical clinic is a blessing to the people of Payatas since without money for healthcare in the Philippines. You will not get assistance or the assistance will be minimal. Frank & Rose McIlvenny

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have witnessed the results of Payatas by measuring the growth of their instituion. Since their inception, they have added some schooling for the children, medical support and spiritual support.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing desperation of so many people change to hope.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated and frustrated as they want to be able to do more.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

offer real hope to a people that has been discarded by society. They could have full medical facilities and provide real educational facilities.

The Payatas Mission is the purest example of people extending themselves, at a significant level of personal sacrifice, to help others in need of the most basic aid and services, furnishing moral and spiritual support in addition to food, clothing, medical attention, education, rest and recreation, and more. The Payatas Mission is a shoestring organization, running on a minimal budget with maximum hope and objectives. It appears to qualify as a role model for similar efforts, its activities and structure a template applicable to other organizations and efforts to aid the severely disadvantaged of the world.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Information, videos, photos, and accounts of activities I receive on a regular basis from Pastor Wilson.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand funding efforts beyond a religious basis, soliciting international aid organizations such as Oxfam, Eldis, various groups within the UN, etc.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial and physical.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I admire the aim and effort evident in the day to day lives and efforts of the members and staff of the Payatas community.

Since 1981, right after graduating in college, i was involved in non government organization: entailed me to do massive research, voluntary work in the far flung provinces not even electricity and clean water is available.Much to say doing fund raising for children's programs. I been a witnessed to these "non profit organization" but it is only here at Payatas MIssion Outreach , i have seen dedicated people willing to share their time, skills, love, resources and most especially the word of GOd. Barely, less than a year in this organization, i truly feel the amazing grace of our LOrd giving wisdom to touch people lives, who lives in most depressed area in the Philippines. With the leadership of Ptr. JAck Wilson, people here are fed not only physically but most of all spiritually. Various programs and projects are done for the benefits of the people here, and lately, the birth of Payatas Baptist Clinic, offering free consultation. But still there is no such thing as FREE LUNCH. The clinic is in dire needs of volunteer doctors, financial support to pay rental and other operational cost. MOre often than not, medicines are given free to patients who cant really afford to buy. Let us help build Payatas: support and show you care, and this will be given backto you a hundred folds.

Yes for less than a year, i have been experiencing tremendous blessings, by being involved in the projects of Payatas Mission Outreach. And ican go anytime to the Payatas Baptist Clinic for my regular check up at no expense at alland avail cheap medicine

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Mobilize people in the area: to implement its Vision Mission GOals (VMG), trained people to raise funds, perhaps create a peoples cooperative wherein community members will manage themselves.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I enjoyed working with the less privilege people in the community..i can see the inner beauty in their spirit as they are doing this for HIS glory!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Staff and volunteers here work as a team, one family. It is always what they can give and offer to others. Always visible whenever you need them.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Wow..its VMG (Vision, Mission, Goals) will be attained: build a Payatas Baptist community: comprising a decent building for church, cinic, school and a self sufficient community!

Ways to make it better...

Each member will be given clear role, and perhaps i myself can perform better if i do it in my own initiative..and would not wait for Ptr. Jack to call my attention/

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

to continue to operate in the whole community in uplifting its moral, economic and spiritual life, not only relying on supporters donations but to be a SELF RELIANCE organization.

One thing I'd also say is that...

if this organization has enough funding it can hone the skills of members to provide decent lives, God fearing individuals!

Personally, this is the one and only charitable organization that I trust in the Philippines. I have donated and volunteered to several charitable organization in the Philippines and they all have their share of curruptions and failures. Most of these so called charitable organizations does not even exist today. But Payatas Mission Outreach is different. In fact, this is the only 'EXISTING" organization that is dedicated in helping the poor people of Payatas. You can personally prove it for yourselves. The founder, Rev. Jack Wilson will be happy to meet you in Payatas. I am also calling those who are willing to help. Payatas Mission Outreach Inc. can help more people with your help. Please support Payatas Mission Outreach Inc.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

person. I am a regular volunteer in Payatas.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

This organization has exceeded my expectations.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

No corruption. The founder, Rev. Jack Wilson is a "people" person. He also works. I've told him to take it easy but he always said "he's not that old". :D

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Real Christians. They are happy folks. Dedicated on their works.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help more people have their own livelyhood. The organization does not just "give fish", it also "teaches how to fish"

Ways to make it better...

There are more financial supporters.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Financial Support

One thing I'd also say is that...

Please, support this cause. I cannot see why a good organization does not have enough financial supporters. I guess advertisement comes with a great price. The Philippine government does not even help.

I met Pastor Jack last year when we were doing a story about garbage mountain in Payatas area. The condition of the people living in the area are really heart wrenching and witnessing the challenging works of Payatas Mission Outreach just to provide some sort of sanctuary to the people there is just amazing and at the same time inspiring. We filmed the story and it reached some viewers in CBS. In as much as my experience with this organization is fleeting, I hope to help them more by passing on the story whenever there is an opportunity so people may know how important it is to support groups like this.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how the out-of-school youth in Payatas somehow gain valuable education through this mission. His services are flocked by people and I saw volunteers giving food as well to the children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

love to go back and film them again. in fact i am doing another story pitch to a singaporean network and hopefully his story can reach more audience for further possible support.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that they use music to communicate with people. i remember they have a small keyboard in their very small area and they use it to alleviate people's emotion.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the volunteers are very friendly despite the harsh condition that they have to work with.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

it can change the lives of the people and children in the area through educational programmes and i think that's a very good thing.

Ways to make it better...

i was given more time to know them and their works.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of facilities and paid staff to really get things going for their advocacies.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I hope more people would come to help them.

Jack lived at our house during the time that he was preparing to leave for Payatas. It was wonderful to see everthing in the planning stages. Now to see what has been done for the clinic was a huge step in getting the major part of the plans done. Hopefully they are to add on and get more help to better service the people of Payatas. Jack was able to return to the US for a few days. During that return he was able to show us pictures and explain about the people that he is helping.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Just through pictures have I seen what is going on there. Jack was able to explain about some of the procedures that took place in some of the pictures.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

My feelings are that they need more room to handle more people and different procedures. They need to be able to have a doctor that can do more for the people. They also could use more medical supplies and medications.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

watching grown beyond my expectations in such a short time.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

not afraid to do anything it takes to help these people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

it could save the lives of many people and teach them to be on their own.

Ways to make it better...

I could go over there and stay for at least month to help.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Having enough money in order to supply the needs for the people of Payatas.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The big plan of Payatas is under way. When you see the work that has been done, you realize that the whole plane will get done.
