I have volunteered with PADV and have been so impressed with their support of LGBTQQI issues as well as working on issues such as spreading awareness of teen dating violence. They rock!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Working with teens at their workshop and seeing the effectiveness of the LGBTQQI training at domestic violence shelters.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them more money to hire and expand their projects/scope.

As a social work educator, I have been very impressed with PADV- the program, the staff, and their outreach to diverse communities. This organization offers a safe haven, healing and hope for women survivors of intimate partner violence and advocacy partnerships and community prevention programs as well. They are an excellent internships site for social work interns, training future leaders in the field. The staff is always available to give community presentations and engage meaningful dialogue that impacts people in life changing ways.
I'm never at a loss for praise when it comes to PADV!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my social work classes when the Director of Prevention does the IPV 101 training for my classes. I always have students afterwards talk about their own experiences and feel empowered by the information they get. It also inspires students to want to volunteer or work in this area of the field.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Add more staff and sites in the community.

As a survivor of Domestic Violence I have come to know this organization very dearly. PADV not only helps the survivors with day to day items (a safe place to sleep, food for themselves and their children) but they also go above and beyond by providing the survivors with the resources to overcome the challenges they were so unjustly handed.

PADV is keenly aware that in order to help stop this epidemic the community has to be educated. PADV is at the colleges raising awareness of teen dating violence, they are active in the community with helping abused pets find new homes and they are in the corporate world raising awarenss of what happens when domestic violence goes to the workplace.

I have been a volunteer for eight months and have enjoyed every moment of the experience. Whether I am taking a call from the crisis line, organizing a canned food drive for one of the shelters or giving a hug to a survivor.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

love to see this organization grow and spread so much awareness that our world wouldn't have a need for refuge from abusers.

I am a man who grew up in an abusive household and watched my mother being treated unfairly on a daily basis. I have been working with adult men in this field for years but I also recognize that there is a need to have dialogue with teens. I attended PADV session at Ga Tech recently and I cannot thank them enough for what they are doing!

As a woman who was beaten and brutalized from 1970-1974 before becoming strong enough and wise enough (and weary enough) to figure out how to escape--with a ten-year old child--I strongly endorse PADV! How I wish I had known of an organization back then that would have been there for me with practical and emotional support such as is now provided by PADV. As a current member of Atlanta Domestic Violence Group, I know that their work is invaluable. It is my hope that my recommendation will help to allow PADV to be recognized on the Great Nonprofits Top-Rated Women's Nonprofits List. Thank you.

Sincerely,

LOVE PADV. I first met this group in June 2006 and have had a working relationship with them ever since. They will often come to our Ally, Safe Sister and Advocate Training and assist with various events too. They have been honored through a fund raising event on campus, as well as a collaborator on several grants!

PADV has proven to be a reliable community partner in the domestic violence community time after time. Whenever we have a client in need of assistance, PADV is only one call away. They tirelessly educate the community on domestic violence, teen dating violence, and IPV in the LGBTQQI community. They are present at every local task force and interagency effort that happens in the metro Atlanta area. Their professionalism and leadership are commendable.
